Bel Air Beauty rallies to win Valley View

Whatever the surface, Bel Air Beauty seems to save her best for Keeneland. Friday she easily won the Grade 3, $150,000 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes over the Keeneland turf course, her first victory since winning the Grade 2 Alcibiades last October over the Polytrack surface there.

Heading into the first turn of the 1 1/16-mile Valley View, Bel Air Beauty appeared an unlikely winner. Breaking from the 11 post under Mark Guidry in field of 12 3-year-old fillies, she was hung five wide into the first turn, which resulted in her falling back into fifth place early.

Woods taking three shots in Longshots OTB Cup

FORT ERIE, Ontario – The $25,000 Longshots OTB Cup for 2-year-old fillies heads the Sunday afternoon card at Fort Erie. The field includes two entries and three runners from the James Woods barn. The conditions for the six-furlong Longshots OTB require entrants to have made at least one prior start at Fort Erie.

The Michael Cartwright-owned and -trained coupling of Gold Abby and Jan’s Trophy should take their fair share of action, as both are winners here who have posted better Beyer Speed Figures than the rest.

Jordan loaded for Fantasy, Ascot

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Although the final two stakes at the meet – the Fantasy for 2-year-old fillies Saturday and the Ascot Graduation for 2-year-old colts and geldings next Sunday – are each $100,000 races at 1 1/16 miles, the similarities stop there.

The Fantasy figures to be little more than a public workout for Dancing Allstar, while the Ascot Graduation appears to be open to just about any of the 15 horses nominated.
