Nownownow targeting Swaps

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Nownownow, winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Monmouth Park last fall, has joined trainer Jason Orman's stable and is being pointed for the $350,000 Swaps Stakes next Saturday.

Nownownow has made one start this year, finishing fifth in the Irish 2000 Guineas at Leopardstown, Ireland, on May 24 when trained by David Wachman. A winner of 2 of 7 starts and $660,784, Nownownow has had one workout for Orman, five furlongs in 58.20 seconds at Santa Anita on June 29, the fastest of 40 recorded works at the distance.

Force Freeze sold, headed to Dubai

Force Freeze, one of the quickest 3-year-olds based this meet at Lone Star Park, has been sold for $400,000 in a deal that closed late last month, according to Allen Milligan, who trained the horse for Poindexter Thoroughbreds and Ronald Ellerbee.

Interests in Dubai purchased Force Freeze, said Steven W. Young, the bloodstock agent who brokered the sale. The horse is in quarantine in Kentucky, he said, and from there will ship to Dubai.

"They wanted to have a nice horse for the carnival over there," Young said Friday, referring to the Dubai Racing Carnival.

Lord Nelson ends long career

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Lord Nelson has been officially retired. Bred by his owners, Russ and Lois Bennett, Lord Nelson was the top handicap horse at Hastings from 2001 through 2004. He was trained by Dino Condilenios throughout his career and he's been sent home to the Bennetts' farm in West Bank, British Columbia.

Singing Saint impressive in debut win

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - It took a long time for Singing Saint to make it to the races.

But it would appear that the 4-year-old colt, who races for Stronach Stable and Brian Lynch, has been well worth the wait after he made an auspicious debut here Wednesday evening.

"We've always had high hopes for him," said Lynch. "We had to take a chip out of his knee as a 3-year-old, just when we had him ready to run down in Florida."
