Fairplex: Miss Dixie Dancer wins stakes bow

Miss Dixie Dancer won her stakes debut in th $122,050 Barretts Debutante at Fairplex Park, catching the heavily favored Speedin Excess in the stretch to win by a length.

Ridden by Clinton Potts for trainer Adam Kitchingman, Miss Dixie Dancer ($21) ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:19.72. Speedin Excess, sent off at 3-5, finished second, four lengths clear of Malusita.

Tenjectory upsets La Prevoyante

Tenjectory ($37.50) overtook heavily favored Authenicat in deep stretch to capture the $126,600 La Prevoyante Stakes at Woodbine.

Tenjectory saved ground on the turn while running in midpack, and then rallied three wide in the stretch to prevail by three-quarters of a length. She completed the one-mile distance over yielding turf in 1:37.91. Night Fever wound up third in the nine-horse field of Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.

It was a meet-leading 11th stakes victory for jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva.

Soldier's Dancer rallies from last

Calder invader Soldier's Dancer rallied from last after six furlongs to a two-length victory over longshot Ballonenostrikes in Saturday's $250,000 PTHA President's Cup at Philadelphia Park.

Soldier's Dancer is based year-round in south Florida with trainer David Vivian. The President's Cup was his first start on grass since winning the Tampa Turf Classic in April.

In a wild finish to Saturday's Grade 3, $200,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity at Arlington Park, Jose Adan rallied to nip Advice. But things were just getting interesting. When the smoke in the stewards' stand had cleared, both Jose Adan and Advice had been disqualified, with third-place finisher Terrain awarded the win.

Big Brown tenacious on turf

In his final race before the Breeders' Cup Classic, Big Brown digs deep for a neck victory in Saturday's $500,000 Monmouth Stakes on the grass.

OCEANPORT, N.J. - When Big Brown ran down longshot Coal Play to win the Grade 1 Haskell here in August, many thought it was a sign that the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner was tailing off after a long campaign.

Big Brown again got into a dogfight in Saturday's Monmouth Stakes, but the reviews should be more positive after the 3-year-old colt fended off three very talented and accomplished older horses to win the $500,000 turf race.

Music Note cruises after rival's scratch

ELMONT, N.Y. - Music Note continued her love affair with Belmont Park, cruising to an 8 1/2-length win Saturday in the Grade 1, $250,000 Gazelle Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

The Gazelle was her fourth straight win at Belmont, including three straight Grade 1's: the Mother Goose, the Coaching Club American Oaks, and now the Gazelle.

It was also a solid rebound effort from her loss by a head to Proud Spell in the Grade 1 Alabama at Saratoga.

Trujillo breaks wrist in spill

Jockey Elvis Trujillo will be out a minimum of six to eight weeks after fracturing his right wrist in a spill at Monmouth Park on Friday.

Trujillo was aboard Carson Hall in the seventh race on Friday when apparently the rider's feet slipped out of the irons and he fell. According to his agent, Cliff Collier, Trujillo will undergo surgery.

"They'll wait for the swelling to go down and perform the surgery next week," Collier said.
