Kentucky Downs: Placing error results in wrong superfecta payout

Kentucky Downs placing judges posted the wrong fourth-place finisher in the seventh and last race on their opening-day program Saturday, an error that has been corrected for the purposes of official placings and purse payouts but will not affect the mutuel payoff involving the superfecta.

The original order of finish in the race, a $27,000 allowance, was recorded as 2-4-1-6. But after a review of the photo-finish for fourth revealed that No. 9, Night Party, actually finished fourth, barely ahead of No. 6, Heiden, the result has been revised to 2-4-1-9.

Woodbine: Miser looks strong in allowance sprint

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Miser cleared the first Ontario-sired allowance condition at a short price in her last outing and should be favored again in Thursday’s Woodbine headliner, a nonwinners-of-three allowance for Ontario-sired fillies and mares.

Miser had a productive two-race spring campaign for owner/trainer Steve Asmussen, who sent her out to win a five-furlong maiden special in her second start off the bench May 25. Following a seven-week break July 17, she disappointed in an allowance over 6 1/2 furlongs, which is the distance of Thursday’s feature.
