Soviet Song again meets Attraction

Soviet Song and Attraction will renew their rivalry on Newmarket's July Course in Tuesday's edition of the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes.

In last year's running of the Falmouth, a $354,000 straight mile for fillies and mares, Soviet Song ended Attraction's undefeated record with a decisive 2 1/2-length victory. She then beat Attraction again by a half-length in the Group 1 Matron Stakes. A daughter of Marju trained by James Fanshawe, Soviet Song was, however, only third in her reappearance at Royal Ascot at York last month in the Group 2 Windsor Forest Stakes.

Ad Valorem heads Jean Prat

Ad Valorem is in a position to pick up the mantle formerly held by Shamardal in Sunday's Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly, a Group 1, $480,000 contest.

Second by three lengths to Shamardal in the one-mile St. James's Palace Stakes, Ad Valorem won the six-furlong Group 1 Middle Park Stakes last fall. With the Jean Prat reduced in distance this year from 1 1/8 miles to one mile, he is in position to become Europe's leading 3-year-old miler, now that both Shamardal and the 2000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand are retired.
