Siskin beat all the 2-year-olds that raced against him last year and has beaten all the 3-year-olds he has faced this season. Now it is time to tackle older rivals as Siskin puts his perfect career record, five wins from five starts, on the line in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes on Wednesday at Goodwood Racecourse in England.

Enable had only two to beat to win her third, and she did so by 5 1/2.

“Two” was the number of opponents as Enable cruised to her third victory in the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday at rain-swept Ascot. The 6-year-old mare is the first horse to win the King George three times and she strolled home by more than five lengths after principal rival Japan failed to fire and Anthony Van Dyck was scratched. 

Australian bettors are slowly catching on to Illecebrous, who has won her last two starts at 7-1 and 6 -1 and figures to be a shorter price in a handicap at Cessnock Racecourse on Monday.

Illecebrous, trained by Kris Lees, has won 3 of 6 starts. A 3-year-old Australian-bred filly, Illecebrous had three starts in the second half of 2019 before being given a break of nearly six months. After finishing sixth in her comeback on June 9, Illecebrous won a handicap at six furlongs at Port Macquarie on June 23 and a handicap at 5 1/2 furlongs at Grafton on July 8.

La Jument is a 6-year-old Australian-bred gelding who has won 2 of 5 starts since his career began in February. He has displayed his best performance in sprints, leaving him a strong favorite in a six-furlong handicap at Sunshine Coast Racecourse on Sunday in Australia.

La Jument is unbeaten in two starts at Sunshine Coast – a maiden race at six furlongs in his debut on Feb. 16 and a handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs on Feb 28.

Enable races Saturday in England, Magical on Sunday in Ireland, and that is good news for Magical.

Five times Magical has faced Enable, and five times Magical has lost to Enable, but with Enable as the favorite in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Magical has a chance to shine Sunday at The Curragh in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Jungle Edge and Viridine, the first two finishers of the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes on July 11, meet for the fourth time this year in Saturday’s Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at six furlongs at Caulfield Racecourse in Australia.

In the Monash Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs at Caulfield, Jungle Edge, the 5-2 favorite, beat 3-1 Viridine by three-quarters of a length. Jungle Edge was within a length of the lead throughout and had first run on Viridine, who closed steadily but was held.

The boys, three of them, all trained by Aidan O’Brien, will try to beat Enable on Saturday at Ascot.

The race, an historic Group 1, is the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes; it has only four entrants, one of them the queen of European middle-distance racing.

Since Coming Around extended his winning streak to three races in early February, the 4-year-old Australian-bred gelding has been transferred from trainers Grant and Alana Williams on the West Coast of Australia to Brett Stanley in the Victorian countryside, north of Melbourne.

Grant Williams recently moved several leading runners from his stable near Perth to Stanley’s base Victoria in preparation for major stakes in that part of the country in coming months. Those horses will run for Williams.

Golly I’m Lucky has had a perfect comeback in Australia in the last month, going unbeaten in two six-furlong handicaps after a layoff since December.

A 5-year-old Australian-bred gelding, Golly I’m Lucky has won 5 of 18 starts; the recent wins are the first time he has won consecutive races.

There is strong potential for a third straight win in a six-furlong handicap Thursday at Kembla Grange. Golly I’m Lucky, trained at Kembla Grange by Theresa Bateup, is the joint topweight at 132 pounds with Baracus and Esteem Spirit in a field of 11.

The Australian 3-year-old filly What a Girl is a nose away from having two wins in her first three starts.

On July 4 at Newcastle Racecourse, What a Girl rallied from last in a field of 10 to just miss winning a handicap at 7 1/2 furlongs. What a Girl closed from fourth to win her debut in a maiden race at seven furlongs in April at 25-1.

If longer races are vital for her success, What a Girl has an excellent chance to win for the second time in her career in a handicap for fillies and mares at 7 3/4 furlongs on Wednesday at Canterbury Park in Sydney.
