DRF Bets GamePlan spot play - Belle Harbor Stakes

LINDISFARNE (#4, ML 3-1) was impressive winning twice at Laurel Park for Rudy Rodriguez after being imported from Northern California. Her work tab shows she has been kept in steady training since her last start Jan. 29, and she should come back running off the freshening at a fair price. Lake Sebago, who was second to Lindisfarne in the $100,000 Marshua Stakes at Laurel, is a talented filly.

Watchmaker: How I'd play Aqueduct for Sunday, April 26

Sunday is closing day at Aqueduct and for some, after the winter and early spring we have seen, that is cause for celebration. However, at least Aqueduct closes in a positive way, with an interesting 1- race card spiced by three stakes races, and three turf races.

There are four races on the card I find especially interesting betting races, and they are races 4, 6, 7, and 10. Since two of those races – races 7 and 10 – bookend the late pick four, I’m sure I will be focusing most of my energy in that direction. But let’s look at each of these four events.

Free: How I'd play Santa Anita on Sunday, April 26

ARCADIA, Calif. – Only eight races will be run Sunday at Santa Anita, instead of the nine races that were scheduled.

Why the truncated program? A racing official quoted in Daily Racing Form said, “There are a lot of horses out of town, a lot of trainers out of town, and a lot of jockeys out of town.”

It’s a curious alibi. The unfilled races were a state-bred maiden and a $16,000 claiming route. Those type rarely ship out of town. Trainers can be reached on cell phones. There are plenty of jockeys.

Hammersly: Pick three play for Santa Anita on Sunday, April 26

A gal returning to her best game, another filly who looks quite attractive as she makes her U.S. debut, and a gelding who looks like a brand new horse after a layoff give a mid-card pick three (races 4-6) some appeal.

Race 4

ZEE’S CHRIS (#7) isn’t exactly a win machine (3 for 33), but some of her best work has come at this mile trip. She was gone nine months, came back with a couple so-so sprint efforts recently, but here gets back to a mile. She also gets blinkers, and a bullet 47.20-second work April 19 at Los Alamitos encourages.
