McGee: Los Alamitos pick three for Sunday, Sept. 13

Take a long look at Race 5 and notice the veritable ton of early speed in there. Sure seems like something could rally from off the pace to capitalize. First inclination is that ULTIMATE LUCK fits that bill, but with that voided claim out of his latest at Del Mar, let’s give WITH THE BREEZE (6) and hungry jock Ry Eikleberry a big chance on the drop and slight turnback for the Belvoir barn. The first Saturday card of the Belmont fall meet is, for me, an interesting betting program from the middle of the day on. These are the races I’m specifically looking at:

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 12th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

Our final Pick for the 3-year-olds turned out to be not-so-cat-in-the-bag, but our 2-year-old Pick came rumbling home as Airoforce galloped to a surprisingly generous $10 payoff.  There were 11 other BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds who got home on top last week, including four at Monmouth and two at Saratoga along with  solos at Charles Town, Del Mar (a BreezeFigs exacta), Ellis, Los Alamitos and Remington.

Free: Southern California Horses to Watch for week of Sept. 7

ALMOST REALITY

Trainer: Neil Drysdale
Last race: Sept. 2, 9th
Finish: 3rd by 3/4
Beyer: 70
This maiden filly sped to an absurd 10-length lead in a turf route, and understandably tired. With patient strategy next out, she can handle statebred turf maidens, long or short.
