Litfin: Aqueduct Horses to Watch for week of Nov. 2

TENNESSEE WHISKEY
Trainer: Christophe Clement
Last race: Nov. 1, 6th
Finish: 4th by 3/4
Beyer: 75
Rallied from off the pace and was herded out late while making her first start since Mid-April against first-level allowance fillies on the grass.

Free: Del Mar Horses to Watch for week of Nov. 2

HIGHWAY BOSS
Trainer: Hector Palma
Last race: Oct. 29, 5th
Finish: 2nd by 1 3/4
Beyer: 80
An honest 3-year-old gelding, he could have won a $50,000 claiming race on turf but he clipped heels and nearly fell at the quarter pole. Follow vs. similar, either surface, any distance.

Keeneland - Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (race 6)

COMMENT: Europeans won for the sixth time in nine editions of this race, as Hit It a Bomb overcame post 14, a sluggish start, traffic and relative inexperience to win. His slow break may have been a benefit as it allowed him to veer toward the inside and not get hung out to dry on the first turn.

Gierkink's Woodbine Horses to Watch for week of Nov. 2

Ron Gierkink's Woodbine Horses to Watch for the week of Nov. 2.

AMBERWOOD
Trainer:
Ron Sadler
Last race: Oct. 30, 6th
Finish: 2nd by 2
Beyer: 68

He lacked room along the inside in the stretch before ending up a clear second in a nine-furlong maiden special for older Ontario-sired stock. The 3-year-old has improved with each subsequent start and appears to be on the brink of a breakthrough.

Positive ROI report: Gargan successful in sprints

Trainer Danny Gargan saddles R Free Roll (#4, ML 6-1) in Sunday's seventh race at Belmont Park, the six-furlong Pumpkin Pie Stakes. Since Jan., 1, 2014, Gargan is winning at a 27 percent clip in sprints, for a return on investment of $3.51.

Hersh: Breeders' Cup pick four play for Saturday, Oct. 31

You’ve got potential bookend singles in Saturday's early Breeders' Cup pick four at Keeneland in SONGBIRD (No. 10 in the Juvenile Fillies) and LEGATISSIMO (No. 3 in Filly-Mare Turf), and there’s enough of a chance for chaos in the other two races - the Turf Sprint and, to a lesser extent, the Filly and Mare Sprint - that both those favorites could get home and you might still get paid.

Key contenders for Breeders' Cup Juvenile

Debra A. Roma
Exaggerator was second last out in the Grade 1 Breeders' Futurity.

Exaggerator (Last 3 Beyers: 86-85-77)
• Ran like a horse in need of a race when second, beaten a length, by Brody’s Cause in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity here Oct. 3, his first start in seven weeks.
• Had gotten sick shortly after winning the Grade 2 Saratoga Special in August, throwing off his training schedule leading up to the Futurity.
• After a so-so work by himself here Oct. 17, he worked a bullet five furlongs in 59.60 seconds over this track last weekend.

Peck: Breeders' Cup Distaff-Classic double play

I really like STOPCHARGINGMARIA (4) in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff on Friday for a couple reasons. One is she figures to go back to rating off the pace and making one run, and that seems to be her preferred style. She was on the lead in the Personal Ensign and gave way late, but with established speeds in the Distaff, it's hard to believe she will engage in a duel when she's perfectly capable of taking off a potentially quick pace and making a late move.
