The Big Cap card Saturday at Santa Anita is truly big, with the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap heading a program that includes two other Grade 1 events – the Frank E. Kilroe Mile and the Triple Bend, each worth $400,000 – plus a strong renewal of the Grade 2, $400,000 San Felipe Stakes, the local stepping-stone to the Santa Anita Derby.
Saturday is also the biggest day of the year at Tampa Bay Downs, where the Grade 2, $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby tops a card that includes four other stakes, two of them graded.

ARCADIA, Calif. – A pick-five carryover of $335,216 could generate a $2 million pool Sunday at Santa Anita, and the question facing pick five bettors is – how much to wager?
Four of the five races (1-5) drew small fields; one big field includes a potential standout. Under normal circumstances, a bettor might survey the sequence and look elsewhere for value.

Mike Hushion gets a 100 TimeformUS Trainer Rating with runners dropping from maiden special weight to maiden claiming company.
Haynesfield is a strong route influence and this horse is a half-brother to Grade 1-winning dirt router Divine Park.
Kendrick Carmouche should send him aggressively in a race lacking much pace.

Race 6: GOING STRONG was rated toward the back of the field after failing to break sharply from the gate and could only race on for a distant third in a similar race that came back fast last month; his prior two races were both strong efforts, and there should be more action up front this time with several stretch-out sprinters in the field.
