TimeformUS Belmont Horses in Focus for Friday, Sept. 8, 2017

Race 3:
Enchanteresse (#1)
Throw out her last race since she just didn't handle the boggy turf course at Saratoga.

Two back, she finished a close second to Boreale, who would be a top contender in this spot.

The Pace Projector is predicting that she will be close to the pace in a situation favoring the front-runners.

Kentucky Downs Jockey7: Hernandez set up for success

The first Jockey7 Wager held Wednesday at Kentucky Downs drew just $8,351 in all-sources handle, with most account-wagering companies not offering the bet. Moreover, there were other kinks that track officials acknowledge they need to work out, including a very lengthy wait after the races to calculate the final payoffs on the bet.

Nonetheless, my first analysis happened to be dead on – and yes, I did play it for real through the ontrack tote – as Tyler Gaffalione amassed the most points at 7-1 odds.

Kentucky Downs Jockey7: Off and running, with Gaffalione leading the way

The first Jockey7 wager (carded as race 11) on Wednesday at Kentucky Downs looks a lot like any other race at this unique track – that is, difficult.

The Jockey7 allows horseplayers to bet on individual jockeys and their mounts, and will span the last seven races (4-10) each day.

Win-place-show, exacta, and trifecta wagering will be held on the Jockey7, which consists of 13 jockeys and their assigned mounts, plus a “field” as a 14th entry.

Results are based on a points system for top-four finishes (25-12-9-5).

Gierkink: Woodbine horses to watch for week of Sept. 4

LATONKA
Trainer:
Denyse McClachrie
Last race: Sept. 2, 5th
Finish: 1st by 2 1/4
Beyer: 46
After missing the break, the modestly bred 2-year-old rallied stoutly on the outside to win his six-furlong debut going away. He could be a factor in Ontario-sired stakes company this fall.

Fornatale: How I'll play Saratoga for Monday, Sept. 4, 2017

Incredibly, closing day at Saratoga is upon us. Unfortunately, what shaped up to be an awesome betting card now has many question marks in terms of how the surfaces will be playing. I’ll be watching the early races carefully for clues, but I don’t think I can resist putting in some Pick Threes that connect the two stakes races late in the card.

Free: How I'd play Del Mar for Monday, Sept. 4, 2017

DEL MAR, Calif. – A pick four on the final four races of the Del Mar summer season is the main play on closing day. The sequence includes an intriguing Florida shipper with an upset chance (win bet, exacta key) in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf.

The pick four covers races 7-10.

Race 7
JEREMY'S LEGACY (5) crushed first-level allowance foes one month ago. A repeat of that performance would make her tough to beat in this second-level turf allowance. Both wins by Jeremy’s Legacy were on the Del Mar turf.

TimeformUS Saratoga Horses in Focus for Monday, Sept. 4, 2017

Race 2:
Baseline (#11)

Handled a route of ground on dirt, so should have no trouble stretching out on turf.
Comes out of a live race that included multiple horses who won their next starts.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Brad Cox is 10 for 24 (42 percent,  $2.40 ROI) first off the claim in turf routes.

Hersh: How I'll play Del Mar on Sunday, Sept. 3

Race 2, a California-bred N1X turf sprint, looks interesting. Enough real speed appears signed on that I think we can forecast a legitimate, quick tempo and a fairly truly run race. JET SET MAN (#9) is the 5-2 morning-line choice and does have solid, contending form. He also is a neck away from being a six-race maiden, was convincingly beaten into second at this level and distance last out, and does not, to my mind, have lot of room to improve today.
