Race 5:
California Swing (#6)
While he needs to improve to win this race, his turf efforts at the end of last season are better than they seem given his wide trips.
Switches back to turf after showing improved speed in his recent dirt starts.
DRF Formulator Fact: Mike Maker is 10 for 31 (32 percent, $3.24 ROI) second off the claim with horses switching from dirt to turf.

Our “gimmick toss in,” More Honor, decided that he was better than that, going off the slight favorite and coming home on top to pay $7.40 and kick off two nice gimmicks. Our top choice in the race, Alfareed, got roughed up early and went too wide to gain a placing, but should be tabbed back.
Keeneland | Race 9 | Post Time 5:34 p.m. (ET) | Go to the TimeformUS PPs
Race 3:
Vicar’s Legend (#3)
Was facing a tougher field last time
Ran his career-best race over a fast track following a series of wet track performances, and should get dry going again this time.
New rider Paco Lopez can keep him closer to the early pace, which usually results in his better performances.

THIRSTFORLIFE
Trainer: Wes Hawley
Last race: April 5, 8th
Finish: 2nd by 1 3/4
Beyer: 91
He was intended for the $300,000 Essex Handicap last month at Oaklawn but was scratched after sustaining an injury shipping up from Fair Grounds, according to Hawley. The allowance last week was his first start since Feb. 17, and he contested the pace in a useful start off the bench. He seems like a horse sitting on a productive season.
