Gierkink: How I'll play Woodbine for Sunday, Sept. 23

The 11-race card, with two separate Pick 4s, is challenging, to say the least.

I believe the favorites Stolen Identity (10) and Blessed Too (2) are vulnerable in the featured sixth race, the Bull Page Stakes. Stolen Identity got sick and missed some training after his front-running debut score on a speed-favoring track July 29. Blessed Too is turning back in distance off a bias-aided maiden victory in the slowly run Simcoe, a stakes for graduates of local yearling sales. Souper Hot (8) could rebound off a flat fourth in the Simcoe, and I will bet him to win at 6-1 or higher.

Peck: Parx pick four for 2018 Pennsylvania Derby card

There was some confusion in the wagering menu for Parx on Saturday, but there is indeed a pick four starting with race 8, and it's a compelling sequence. Here's a look:

RACE 8: Standing alone with COLLECTED despite the layoff, as he has a big edge in figures, and his solid works leading up to this return suggest he could run to them in his first start back. The fact that he's run some big races off the bench in the past certainly adds to the appeal (1).

King: Laurel Park pick four for Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018

Here is a look at an all-turf, all-stakes pick four that precedes the De Francis Memorial Dash at Laurel Park on Saturday.

Race 6

The All Along Stakes appears to be among the most competitive of the stakes at Laurel. Adding to the somewhat cloudy handicapping picture is that a couple of runners in the lineup – Lift Up and Mythical Mission – are cross-entered in the Noble Damsel on Saturday at Belmont Park.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 22, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Never did we expect our sneaky Pick, Better Charge It, to go off at 87-to-1, but he did and he ran gamely all the way around to fill out the trifecta with a juicy show payoff as well. Meanwhile on the same day three BreezeFigs juvenile maidens won at Belmont and on the opposite coast the Barretts Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Los Alamitos resulted in a BreezeFigs trifecta. All told 18 BreezeFigs maidens won last week with a plethora of BreezeFigs exactas.

TimeformUS Belmont Park Horses in Focus for Friday, Sept. 21, 2018

Race 5: Cilantro (#2)
The Pace Projector is predicting a situation favoring horses on or near the lead, and she is a potential front-runner.
Todd Pletcher does very well with horses stretching out to routes for the first time on dirt.
Has plenty of stamina breeding on the bottom side of her pedigree.
5-2 on ML

Weekend Warrior for Saturday, Sept. 22: Picks for Cotillion Stakes, Gallant Bob Stakes, Charles Town Oaks

Barbara D. Livingston
Wonder Gadot will be wearing blinkers in Saturday's Cotillion at Parx Racing.

The Mid-Atlantic region is the focal point for Saturday’s stakes action. Parx Racing offers its Grade 1, $1 million doubleheader of the Pennsylvania Derby and Cotillion, and has some solid supporting events including the Grade 3, $300,000 Gallant Bob. Laurel also has a stakes-filled card, rescheduled from last week due to the threat of inclement weather, topped by the Grade 3, $250,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash. And Charles Town has a stakes-packed card, too, led by the Grade 3, $300,000 Charles Town Oaks.
