Race 1: Nueva York (#10)
Has been steadily improving in recent starts and would be dangerous if he transfers his dirt form to turf.
Is a full brother to a turf sprint winner and his second dam was a turf horse.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, David Cannizzo is 5 for 26 (19 percent, $4.86 ROI) with horses trying turf for the first time in sprints.

Hersh: How I'll play Belmont Park on Sunday, May 26, 2019

It was a struggle finding an opinion on this card, but eventually I got to one in the nightcap, race 9. This a a New York-bred maiden special weight sprint over 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt, and I’m keying SEVEN IS HEAVEN (#9).

Seven is Heaven is a second-time starter for trainer Linda Rice, and his debut running line caught my eye as a standard-issue tough-trip-from-rail event for a first-time starter. Watching that replay, he had more trouble than the short comment in the chart enumerates and ran even better than the past performance hints.

Race 4: Two Graces (#8)
Has been steadily improving her speed figures in recent starts.
Ran well on turf two back in a race that is stronger than the speed figures indicate.
Should appreciate the nine-furlong distance of this race given her stamina-oriented pedigree.
9-2 on ML

Peck: How I'd Play Monmouth Park's late pick four on Saturday, May 25, 2019

Looking at the late pick four at Monmouth today. Though there is a prohibitive – and seemingly unbeatable – favorite in the third leg, it still looks like a playable sequence.

Race 6: Mentality (#2)
Has earned the fastest TimeformUS Speed Figures in the field.
The Pace Projector is predicting that she will be contesting the pace in a situation favoring runners on or near the lead.
Put forth one of her best efforts off the layoff last year and could be ready to fire fresh once again.
6-1 on ML

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 25, 2019, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

It was a very good week for BreezeFigs maidens even though our Pick last week tanked a bit—Top Hat Hustle had no speed but the chartcaller liked his “nice late move.” On the other hand, Creative Artist, whom we did not like, finished up a tasty trifecta. There were 11 3-year-olds who came home on top at Belmont (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta); Churchill, Delaware, Indiana, Lone Star, Monmouth, Pimlico and Santa Anita (two at both, including a BreezeFigs exacta at both).

Race 1: Clyde’s Runner (#5)
Ran well fresh when making his debut in a similar spot last June.
Was compromised by a wide trip against a rail bias in his only other start sprinting on turf.
Returns as a new gelding with leading rider Jose Lezcano in the irons.
2-1 on ML
