Beer: Belmont Park late pick four play for Friday, June 7, 2019

Friday's late pick four sequence begins with Race 8 and involves three graded stakes races – the Grade 2 True North for older sprinters; the Grade 2 New York, for older fillies and mares going long on turf; and the Grade 2 Belmont Gold Cup, for older horses going even longer on turf.

Let's take a look.

TimeformUS Belmont Horses in Focus for Friday, June 7, 2019

Race 5: Pacific Gale (#4)
Might have won the Vagrancy last time had she not had to alter course at the top of the stretch.
Her last two TimeformUS Speed Figures of 126 and 120 are among the fastest numbers in this field.
The Pace Projector is predicting a situation favoring horses on or near the lead and she should be right up on the pace.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, June 8, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Let us not ponder over last week’s results except to say we still can’t figure it out. On the other hand, the 2-year-old season is heating up with four BreezeFigs maidens winning last week at Belmont (a BreezeFigs trifecta), Indiana, Monmouth and Woodbine (previous BreezeFigs Pick). Another quartet of winners popped up on the 3-year-old slate at Belterra, Churchill, Laurel and Penn National.

TimeformUS Belmont Horses in Focus for Thursday, June 6, 2019

Race 5: Blahnik (#4)
Was badly compromised by running off in a fast pace in her turf debut last summer.
Showed an affinity for this surface at Gulfstream two back.
The Pace Projector is predicting that she will be clearly in front in the early going in a race that does not feature much pace.
10-1 on ML

Barbara D. Livingston
Preakness winner War of Will trains at Belmont on Wednesday morning.

There are two different War of Wills competing in Saturday’s Belmont Stakes. There is War of Will, the sporting proposition, and there is War of Will, the betting proposition.

Hammersly: Belmont Park pick six play for Friday, June 7, 2019

Not only does Belmont’s two-day Pick-6 Friday and Saturday allow you to decipher some top-class racing, hopefully finding a nugget or two, it comes with a couple other benefits: your outlay doesn’t have to be extravagant (it’s a 20-cent wager) and there’s that wonderful phrase horseplayers love to go with it – low takeout.
