We’re not quite sure that having had both the favorite and another filly who both flipped before entering the gate made her job easier but our Pick, The Goddess Lyssa, was hardly going to be out of it after she showed her tail to the rest of the remaining field in a 12-length romp last week for Quick-Pix third winner in three weeks. But, we’ll take it.

Impressive in its own right to have a first-time starter make all the pace and win clear going two turns on turf in maiden special weight debut, but even more so considering this course was favoring outside closers. Was a 14-1 shot here and betting public could be slow to realize he might be for real.
This is more like it.
There’ve been some dry stakes weekends this winter, but things are ramping up. Fair Grounds, which features the Lecomte for 3-year-olds and the Silverbulletday for 3-year-old fillies, is the Saturday hub, but there are playable stakes at Gulfstream and Tampa and, if you stare hard enough, even Laurel and Aqueduct.
