BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 18, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Well, one of the Liam’s Map colts we liked last week won—Colonel Liam was put up on a DQ and paid a generous ten bucks considering all the hype he received. Unfortunately, the longshot we liked two races prior, Liam’s Boy, got off slower and after being pushed to catch up spit it out and finished up the track. Still, it was an OK week for BreezeFigs maidens considering the limited racing opportunities with two more winners at Gulfstream and another at Oaklawn. And, surprise, surprise!

Diamond Oops wins the Smile Sprint at Gulfstream. He may enjoy the seven furlongs of the Mr. Prospector more than Imperial Hint and X Y Jet.

Free: Cross-country plays for Thursday, April 16, 2020

Oaklawn Park carded a deep, competitive program on Thursday. Gulfstream Park also has racing. It was tough to find decent-priced contenders at either track. Even the best plays – Oaklawn’s second and Gulfstream’s fourth – are moderately priced. Here goes:

OP, race 2 (1:35 CT) – A rock-solid favorite, Cold Smoke (3) finished second last out in a highly rated maiden-30. Claimed by red-hot trainer Robertino Diodoro, up one level to maiden-40, Cold Smoke seems like a standout. Expect lower than his 7-2 program odds.

Yo Y Me returned $4.80 in winning the ATBA Fall Sales Stakes.

An unmistakable favorite will commence the Wednesday betting action, followed by a quartet of price plays at Will Rogers Downs, Tampa Bay Downs, and Fonner Park.

Tampa Bay Downs, race 2 (1 p.m. ET) – A low-odds favorite that looks tough to beat, My Eclair (8) returns to a maiden turf sprint. She is quick enough to make the lead and should be gone at a price shorter than her 2-1 morning line. MOTO selection (“master of the obvious”).
