Despite our Pick last week having failed to get out of a gallop in a hot maiden race, BreezeFigs maidens had a very good time getting to the winner’s circle all around the country. Nine of the 3-year-olds tallied at Belmont, Churchill, Gulfstream (three), Indiana, Lone Star, Monmouth and Parx. The juveniles came out blasting with a BreezeFigs superfecta at Gulfstream and a BreezeFigs trifecta at Santa Anita to go along with a solo at Arlington.

By historical standards, the eight-runner field in the Belmont Stakes is already small. It’s even smaller considering three entrants are field-fillers with little more than a prayer.
But five runners in the Belmont are legit – once-beaten favorite Essential Quality, Preakness winner Rombauer, Kentucky Derby third-place finisher Hot Rod Charlie, likely pacesetter Rock Your World, and late-runner Known Agenda.
The pick six at Santa Anita is worth playing about once a month, on mandatory payout days such as Sunday.
On a non-mandatory payout days, less than 54 cents of each $1 wagered in the pick six is returned daily to bettors. That is what remains after the 23.68 percent takeout and 30 percent siphoned into the single-ticket jackpot.
The good news happens about once a month when Santa Anita grants bettors a reprieve with a mandatory payout. Sunday, the entire pool will be paid. Assuming no single-ticket winner Friday or Saturday, the jackpot should exceed $400,000.
