ARCADIA, Calif. – The pick six is fun again, temporarily, starting Sunday at Santa Anita and continuing for the next two weeks of daytime racing at Los Alamitos.
After that, all pick six bets are off. Personal preference, of course.
Sunday is closing day at Santa Anita and the pick-six jackpot will be paid in full with a carryover of $277,870.
Mandatory jackpot payouts mitigate takeout. Otherwise, the single-ticket pick six is the costliest bet in California racing. Less than 54 cents of each dollar wagered is returned daily to bettors.

One of our Pix fried himself chasing the lead and the other didn’t bother to get out of the gate on time so there you go for last week’s choices. As for the good news, two juvenile BreezeFigs maidens won at Churchill and Santa Anita and four broke their maidens at Churchill, Indiana. Monmouth and Santa Anita. Today’s card is all over the place and may be affected by the weather, so we’ve got a couple of options to consider, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
Not a whole lot in the way of year-end implications afoot on this last Saturday of spring, but there are a bunch of solid racing programs across the land. Santa Anita’s card, top to bottom, holds ample appeal, as do Belmont’s New York Stallion Stakes, which have large, playable fields. Coast to coast, here we go.
Snow Chief
Will lead with the $150,000 Snow Chief, for California-bred 3-year-olds over 1 1/8 miles on grass, because Found My Ball is the horse I like best among this trio of potential plays.
