It was “close but no cigar” time with last week’s Pick as our “key” finished third and two of the other three gimmick choices finished second and fourth. Of course, some longshot stole the race. That’s horse racing, folks. In the meanwhile, 19 BreezeFigs juvenile maidens won last week at: Aqueduct (five), Charles Town, Churchill (three), Del Mar (BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream (four, including two BreezeFigs exactas), Parx, Penn National, Remington (two) and Woodbine.
The two best races this weekend come in Hong Kong – where superstar Golden Sixty makes his first start of the season – and Japan, which has the Group 1 Mile Championship. Closer to home, there’s a grand total of five unrestricted stakes in all of North America, Saturday and Sunday combined. A shallow pool, but perhaps some value swimming around.

The TimeformUS Pace Projector isn’t predicting a situation favoring any particular running style in this New York-bred optional claimer, but I don’t see that much speed signed on. Freewheeler was depicted as the early leader on the Pace Projector, but now he's scratched.
