LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Keeneland September yearling sale opens its two-session Book 2 portion Wednesday – but don’t assume that the fireworks have all been left in the rearview mirror with Book 1. Last year’s second book produced four seven-figure horses, including the sale-topper.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Lane’s End Farm consignment had a magical 48 hours at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale to begin this month, and now looks to keep the momentum going through the rest of this summer and fall’s auctions.

Dubawi, Europe’s leading sire, recorded five winners at last week’s Royal Ascot meeting to help power Godolphin to the leading owner title for the second year in a row.

Jane Lyon’s Summer Wind Farm has assembled a top-notch broodmare band, including Littleprincessemma, the dam of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, and that mare’s Grade 1-winning daughter Chasing Yesterday. But the most exciting mare on the Georgetown, Ky., property at the moment may be Feathered. The 10-year-old Indian Charlie mare is the dam of Flightline, who remained unbeaten with a dynamic victory in Saturday’s Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park.

“We are extra excited about his dam,” Summer Wind, which co-owns Flightline, posted on its social media accounts.

Just one-quarter of the way into 2022, there is plenty of road still to cover in the race for this year’s leading sire title. But at this early stage, the path runs through Quality Road. By virtue of an international performer and several American classic contenders, Quality Road leads his Lane’s End Farm stablemate Tonalist on the overall earnings list.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -  The 2-year-old filly Princesse Lele sold for $750,000 as the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale began its four-day run with gains on Tuesday.

Keeneland reported 249 horses sold through the ring on Tuesday, the first of two Book 1 sessions, for gross receipts of $18,015,200. The sale was originally scheduled to begin on Monday, but was pushed back one day due to logistical complications caused by a record snowfall last Thursday in Lexington.

With a bevy of stakes races for juveniles around the country over the weekend, three prominent sires each recorded a milestone victory.
