My Miss Aurelia back in training; The Factor confirmed for Dubai trip

My Miss Aurelia's shin is completely healed, according to co-owner George Bolton.

My Miss Aurelia, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2011, has resumed light training at The Vinery near Ocala, Fla., and is scheduled to begin galloping on Monday, co-owner George Bolton said Friday. If all goes well, Bolton said, My Miss Aurelia might be ready to race sometime early this summer.

My Miss Aurelia came out of her win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies with a shin injury, and she has been slow to rev up for a 2012 campaign. But Bolton said the shin problem has “completely healed,” and that My Miss Aurelia is sound, healthy, and happy.

John Ward to address possible conflict before panel

'Luck': HBO cancels production on series after death of horse

In an unexpected development, the producers of the HBO series “Luck,” which is set at Santa Anita, announced Wednesday afternoon that production of the show would be discontinued immediately.

The announcement came one day after a horse used in production had to be euthanized at the track after rearing over and striking its head in the stable area. The horse was the third to be euthanized since the show began production two years ago.

Kentucky approves account-wagering licenses

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission unanimously approved licenses for eight account-wagering companies at a meeting on Wednesday after a three-month review of the applications.

The companies that received licenses were AmWest Entertainment, eBet Technologies, Keeneland Select, Premier Turf Club, Racing2Day, TVG, Twinspires, and XpressBet. The licenses allow the companies to accept wagers from bettors in Kentucky for one year.

Animal Kingdom likely out three months

Animal Kingdom came out of a Saturday workout "sore," said his trainer, Graham Motion.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A bone scan done on Animal Kingdom revealed the 2011 Kentucky Derby winner has suffered a stress fracture of the ilium - part of the pelvis - which will likely keep the horse out of training for at least three months, according to trainer Graham Motion on Wednesday.

Motion said the injury was unrelated to the one that forced Animal Kingdom to miss the second half of his 3-year-old campaign.

‘Luck’ suspends filming after horse’s fatal injury

Filming of racing scenes for the HBO series “Luck” was suspended Tuesday after a horse that was scheduled to be part of the production reared and suffered a head injury that required the horse to be euthanized, according to statements released by the network and an organization overseeing the use of animals during the production.
