LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on Tuesday passed a raft of amendments to its existing regulations to bring those rules into alignment with a bill recently passed by the state legislature allowing for the continued operation of historical horse racing devices.
The mutuel field, the 24th or “all others” option, closed as a lukewarm favorite after three days of betting into Pool 3 of the 2021 Kentucky Derby Future Wager. The pool opened Friday at noon Eastern and closed Sunday evening at 6.
The mutuel field closed at 3-1, followed by Life Is Good at 7-1 and Essential Quality at 8-1. They were followed by Greatest Honour (9-1), Prevalence (14-1), Caddo River (15-1), Mandaloun (16-1), and Concert Tour (17-1), with all others ranging from 25-1 to 91-1. The lowest $2 exacta will-pay is Essential Quality over the field (5-24), worth $64.

The Jockey Club of Canada has announced that Sam-Son Farm will be presented with the Special Sovereign Award during the 46th annual Sovereign Awards Ceremony. Selected by the Jockey Club of Canada’s Stewards, the Special Sovereign Award honors those who have accomplished outstanding achievements and made a significant contribution to the thoroughbred industry in Canada.

The Jockey Club of Canada’s graded stakes committee has conducted its annual review of graded and listed stakes in Canada and has reduced the number of graded stakes 41, due to racetracks choosing to place selected races on hold for this season. Additionally, two races with black-type status have been upgraded to listed status for 2021.

Then come Caddo River (12-1), Greatest Honour (15-1), and Risk Taking (15-1), with all others 20-1 or higher.
