LEXINGTON, Ky. – Forte validated his victory in the Hopeful Stakes and prevailed in his first attempt around two turns Saturday when outgaming Loggins in a thrilling 109th running of the Grade 1, $600,000 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland.

Forte looped into contention midway through the final turn of the 1 1/16-mile race and appeared on his way to a convincing score, but the colt “started acting a little green, so I had to take a little hold of him,” said his rider, Irad Ortiz Jr.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Flightline was the first worker after the 6:30 a.m. break Saturday at Santa Anita, strolling through a five-furlong drill as his flawless preparation continues for the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 5 at Keeneland.

Under exercise rider Juan Leyva, Flightline broke off by himself at the five-eighths pole and crossed the wire in 1:00.20. His gallop-out was strong; clockers gave the colt a six-furlong time of 1:12.40. Either way, Flightline was his typical professional self.
