Zoomin Effortlessly tries to stretch win streak to seven

Zoomin Effortlessly will attempt to win his seventh consecutive race Saturday night, when he starts in the Grade 1, $100,000 Leo for Quarter Horses at Remington Park. He also is looking for his third straight Grade 1 win, following victories in the Refrigerator Handicap in October at Lone Star Park and the Championship in January at Sunland Park.
The Leo, for 3-year-olds and up, will be run over 400 yards. The deep field of 10 also includes Dashin Brown Streak, the winner of last year’s Grade 1 Remington Park Invitational Championship who is coming off a third-place finish in the Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos, and Rock You, winner of the Grade 1 All American Gold Cup at Ruidoso Downs.
Zoomin Effortlessly began his streak last May at Sam Houston Race Park, where he won an allowance by 2 1/4 lengths. He then won a trio of restricted stakes at Retama Park before winning back-to-back Grade 1 races, his latest by a neck over Jrc Callas First, the World Champion Quarter Horse of 2014.
Zoomin Effortlessly will break from post 5 under Santos Carrizales.
The chief threat appears to be Dashin Brown Streak, who was third to Heza Dasha Fire - World Champion Quarter Horse of 2015 - in the Champions of Champions in his last start Dec. 12. Dashin Brown Streak boasts a 6-for-7 record at Remington. Overall, the horse is 11 for 20.
Dashin Brown Streak will break from post 7 under Zacharie Kelsey.
