Zoomin Effortlessly faces deep field in Leo Stakes

Zoomin Effortlessly will face a deep field of Quarter Horses on Saturday night when he defends his title in the Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes at Remington Park. He is part of a 10-horse field that includes fellow Grade 1 winners Tres Friends and Bodacious Eagle.
The Leo is for 3-year-olds and up and will be run over 400 yards. It serves as a first look at some of the horses that could advance to the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship.
Zoomin Effortlessly will be launching his season after finishing second by a nose in the Grade 1 Championship at Sunland Park on Dec. 31. He was edged by Jessies First Down, who later would be named the world champion Quarter Horse of 2016. Jessies First Down was to launch his season in a Friday-night trial race at Sam Houston.

Tres Friends was a two-time Grade 1 winner at 2, when he won both the Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs and the Texas Classic Futurity at Lone Star Park. He has recency on Zoomin Effortlessly, having run in a Remington allowance March 16. He finished second by a nose in the 300-yard race, which was the first time he faced older rivals. Tres Friends starts from post 8.
Bodacious Eagle won the Grade 2 Eastex on March 12 at Remington by a commanding 1 1/2 lengths. Earlier in his career, his wins included the Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby. He will break from post 9.
