Zia Park: Pack Your Bags strikes as longest shot in Lea County

Pack Your Bags won the $55,000 Lea County as the longest-priced horse in the field Sunday, when he overtook favorite Humble Smarty by 1 1/2 lengths in the 5 1/2- furlong sprint at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M. It was another neck back in third to Lion Hall.

Pack Your Bags ($20) stalked the pace as Humble Smarty set fractions of 21.35 seconds for the opening quarter and 43.73 for the half-mile, pressed along by Kineticat Yankee. Pack Your Bags overtook those runners and went on to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:02.62.

Miguel Hernandez rode the winner for Stable H.M.A. and trainer Justin Evans.
