Zia Derby winner Two Rivers Over back at Santa Anita

Doug O’Neill won the $300,000 Zia Park Derby on Tuesday with Two Rivers Over. The horse has since returned home to Southern California.
“He looks phenomenal,” O’Neill said Thursday. “He’s back at Santa Anita. He looks really, really well.”
Two Rivers Over was a two-length winner of the Zia Derby, covering the 1 1/16 miles in a track-record-equaling time of 1:41.87. For his effort in the race, which was hand-timed, he earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 90.
O’Neill said next race plans have not been discussed with owners Todd Cady and Ty Leatherman. It’s likely the horse has wrapped up his 3-year-old season.
“We’ll kind of see what options there are,” O’Neill said. “I think it’s fair to say that with how patient Ty and Todd have been with him, and not running out of his own stall, we might lean on the side of taking a little extra time.”
The Zia Derby was the first stakes try by Two Rivers Over, a son of Tamarkuz.
