Zia apprentice to try New York

Travis Cunningham, an 18-year-old apprentice based at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M., said Thursday that he plans to move his tack to Aqueduct next week. He said he will be represented in New York by agent Mike Sellito, who also represents Kent Desormeaux.

Cunningham is currently the third-leading rider at Zia. A native of Idaho, he said former jockey Gary Stevens, a family friend, recommended the move to Aqueduct and helped set him up with Sellito.
