Zenyatta's son Ziconic tries route
ARCADIA, Calif. -- Ziconic, the second foal out of the great racemare Zenyatta, is entered in Friday's fourth race at Santa Anita, which would be the second start of his career and his first around two turns.
Ziconic was a closing third in his debut on Feb. 20 in a seven-furlong race against maidens. He stretches out to 1 1/16 miles on Friday. He drew post 2 in a field of seven.
Mike Smith, the regular rider for Zenyatta during most of her career, takes over on Ziconic, who was ridden by Gary Stevens in his debut.
Ziconic, 3, is a son of Tapit. He was bred and is owned by Jerry and Ann Moss.
