LEXINGTON, Ky. – Zee Drop, a 10-year-old daughter of Lemon Drop Kid in foal to Flightline, sold to Al Ruwais Stables for $1 million to record the highest price of Wednesday’s second day of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Consigned by Lane’s End, agent, Zee Drop is the 24th horse to bring $1 million or more through two sessions of the November Breeding Stock Sale. Last year, 18 seven-figure horses sold during the same time frame.
Cumulatively, 362 horses have sold through the ring this year for $135,464,000, for an average of $374,210 and a median of $225,000. The gross increased 12.79% from last year’s $120,099,000 for 357 horses sold. The average of $374,210 was 11.24% higher than $336,412 in 2025, while the median was unchanged.
On Wednesday, Keeneland sold 210 horses through the ring for $39,535,000, for an average of $188,262 and a median of $150,000. The gross was 16.53% below $47,362,000 from the second session last year, while the average dipped 6.59% from $201,540 and the median was 6.25% below last year’s $160,000.
“The market was a little more reserved than yesterday,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Tony Lacy said. “Yesterday was a fantastic sale and today was a little more normal in how it measured out. But in saying that, quality horses sold well.”
“The mare market was steady,” Keeneland Senior Director of Sales Operations Cormac Breathnach said. “The pinhookers are here; they’re active, and there’s a lot to come. They’re maybe not pitting themselves against each other so much to this point in the sale. A lot of end users are still buying the weanlings, so there’s still a lot of buyers with volume orders that haven’t really struck at their regular rate yet. There are good horses tomorrow, and there’s a long way to go in the sale.”
Session-topper Zee Drop is the dam of winner Kokomotion, third in this year’s Florida Oaks (G3). A half-sister to stakes winner The Reds and from the family of Grade 1 winner Wickedly Perfect, she is out of Ash Zee, a winning Grade 2-placed daughter of Exchange Rate.
“I think she’s a really, really nice mare,” said Bertie Butler, who signed the ticket. “Good quality mare. She’s has great covering, and I just loved her. We’re just trying to get good mares for (owner Saleh Al Otaibi). We’re very happy with the mare.”
With purchases of $2,455,000 for five horses, Al Ruwais Stables was the session’s leading buyer.
During the session, three horses sold for $650,000 apiece.
The first was Runrate, a 4-year-old daughter of Gun Runner in foal to Nyquist purchased by Richard and Sue Masson’s Green Lantern Stables. Out of the Tapit mare Time to Tap, a full sister to champion Untapable, Runrate is a full sister to stakes winner Dimatic and from the family of Grade 1 winner Paddy O’Prado, Grade 2 winners Fun House and Red Route One and Grade 3 winner Majestic Eagle. She was consigned by Lane’s End, agent for Natalma.
“We’re trying to buy good dirt pedigrees to add to our broodmare band,” Patrick Masson said, noting the mare’s full brother Dreamlike was second in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) and her half-siblings Backflash and Zilarro were stakes-placed on dirt. “Being in foal to Nyquist — that obviously helped the price out a bit. But she checked a lot of boxes for us, so we just hope that she’s going to be able to produce horses similar to her family. That was a big sell for us.”
Bringing $650,000 from Mike Repole’s Repole Stable was Shandy, a 7-year-old daughter of Arrogate who is the dam of stakes winner Tatters and is in foal to Army Mule. Claiborne Farm, agent, consigned Shandy, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Tequilita and from the family of Grade 1 winner and sire Offlee Wild and Grade 2 winner and sire Dynaformer. Her dam is Grade 2 winner Sangrita, by Mr. Greeley.
“Shandy is by Arrogate, and Mike’s a big Arrogate fan,” Danielle Bricker of Repole Stable said. “We’re trying to build our broodmare band, and we just think she'll really fit our program. She produced and comes from a really good family. (Shandy’s weanling) Tiz the Law colt that just sold prior to her for $250,000 (to Harcourt Stud) was really nice. We think we got her for a very good price.”
Vincent and Teresa Viola’s St. Elias Stable spent $650,000 on Shop Lifting, a 5-year-old daughter of Into Mischief in foal to Yaupon. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, she is out of Grade 1 winner Miss Shop, by Deputy Minister, and is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Tin Type Gal. Shop Lifting also is from the family of Preakness (G1) winner Seize the Gray; additional Grade 1 winner Power Broker; Grade 2 winners Lay Down, Trappe Shot and Imprimus; and Grade 3 winner Speed Shopper.
“She’s a lovely physical by Into Mischief,” Monique Delk of St. Elias said. “We have a lot of stallions that (need) quality mares, so she fit the bill.”
The 10-year-old Scat Daddy mare Heavenly Scat, who is in foal to Munnings with a full sibling to 2026 Grade 3 winner Nu What’s New, sold to Al Ruwais Stables for $600,000. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, she is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Champagne Problems and from the family of Grade 1 winners Southern Image and Turbo Compressor and Group 3 winner Black Bar Spin.
Taylor Made Sales Agency led consignors with sales of $6,035,000 for 35 horses.
In other sales, Winchester Farm spent $525,000 on Tiger Stripes, a 3-year-old daughter of Curlin out of Grade 1 winner Wicked Whisper, by Liam’s Map. Stone Farm, agent, consigned the filly, who is from the family of Grade 2 winners Point of Honor and Mr Freeze and Grade 3 winners Dilemma and Heavenly Ransom.
Claiborne Farm paid $500,000 for Grade 3-placed winner Don’t Bring Crazy, a 5-year-old mare by Maximus Mischief in foal to Vekoma. Consigned by Glendalough at Dromoland, agent, she is out of the Paynter mare Lily Maria and from the family of Grade 2 winners Vegas Magic and Nostradamus and Grade 3 winner Sweet Whiskey.
The session’s top-priced weanling was a filly from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Arabian Knight and a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Seismic Beauty purchased for $485,000 by Frisco Bloodstock. Out of Knarsdale, a winning stakes-placed daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, she is from the family of Grade 2 winners Alpine Princess, Passion for Action and Payton d’Oro and Grade 3 winners Cosmic Tiger and American Sailor. Scott Mallory, agent for Determined Stud, consigned the weanling.
