Zaino Boyz posts $58 upset in Inaugural Stakes

Zaino Boyz ran them off their feet Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, leading at every point of call to pull a 28-1 upset in the $100,000 Inaugural. No Getting Over Me finished six lengths back in second, while it was another three-quarters of a length in third to Cajun Casanova.
Another Miracle, the 3-5 favorite off a third-place finish in the Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, finished fourth. The Inaugural was one of two stakes on a card of races for 2-year-olds, with Lucrezia taking the $100,000 Sandpiper.
Jockey Daniel Centeno swept both races.
In the Inaugural, Zaino Boyz ($58) broke on top and was up by 2 1/2 lengths through an opening quarter in 21.49 seconds. He maintained a clear advantage through a half-mile in 44.67 before going on to cover six furlongs on a fast track in 1:09.95 for trainer Robert Raymond.
Zaino Boyz was winning his second straight race in the Inaugural. He had captured a maiden special weight on turf one start prior, in October at Gulfstream Park West. The maiden race turned out to be a key one, as Zaino Boyz became its third next-out winner Saturday.
Zaino Boyz has now won 2 of 4 starts and earned $53,800. He is an Arkansas-bred son of Daaher and races for Zaino Ventures, Inc.
Lucrezia ($4) outfinished Two Sixty for a 1 3/4-length win in the Sandpiper for fillies. It was another 5 1/4 lengths back in third to Bridge Dancer.
Lucrezia settled just off the pace set by Two Sixty, who led through an opening quarter in 21.82 seconds and a half-mile in 45.05. The winner joined the leader on the turn, raced with her in the stretch, and shook free in the late stages while going on to cover six furlongs in 1:10.16.
Lucrezia, trained by Arnaud Delacour, was winning on dirt for the first time after a maiden special weight win on turf in October at Keeneland. She is a daughter of Into Mischief and the Grade 3-winning mare Verdana Bold, who earned $331,297. Lucrezia is a half-sister to Ghalia, a past winner of the Sunland Park Oaks.
Lucrezia races for Beverly Anderson and Edward Seltzer. With the win, she improved her record to 2 for 4 and has earnings of $90,800.
