Za Approval, Decisive Moment stand out in Sunday allowance

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The fourth race Sunday at Keeneland is a $64,000 allowance, but a quick scan of the past performances might have you believing it’s a stakes race. Two of the eight starters, Za Approval and Decisive Moment, have combined to take home more than $2.3 million in purse money.
Probably the best race for Za Approval, now 7, came when he finished second by less than a length behind Wise Dan in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita. The gray gelding has earned $1,354,266 for owner and breeder Charlotte Weber.
Decisive Moment, also 7, ran 14th behind Animal Kingdom in the 2011 Kentucky Derby after finishing second in the Spiral Stakes. He has earned $972,518 for owner and breeder Ruben Sierra.
The one-mile turf race is open to horses who have not won twice “other than” since Jan. 1, 2014.
