OZONE PARK, N.Y. - You’re My Girl, runner-up to Chocolate Gelato in the Grade 1 Frizette, worked five furlongs in 1:00.07 Sunday morning over the Belmont Park training track as she prepares for a start in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Keeneland on Nov. 4.
Her connections previously said they would pay the $100,000 supplemental fee to make You’re My Girl eligible for the Breeders’ Cup. A New York-bred daughter of Overanalyze, You’re My Girl won her debut by 14 1/2 lengths against statebreds on Sept. 2 at Saratoga.
Sunday’s work, under exercise rider Simon Harris, was rather fast on a track that was yielding fast times most of the morning.
“She was doing it easy, Simon said, she looked good. I think the track’s pretty quick today,” trainer John Terranova said.
You’re My Girl left New York for Kentucky along with stablemates Union Lake and Midnight Stroll, both of whom are scheduled to run in next Saturday’s Grade 2, $350,000 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland. Those two worked a half-mile together in 46.70 seconds over the Belmont training track.
Also working Sunday at Belmont were Lachaise (a half-mile in 49.25 seconds) and Alluring Angel (half-mile in 48.95) for intended starts in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and Juvenile Fillies Turf, respectively.
