Yourdreamsormine rallies from last to upset Unbridled

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Yourdreamsormine rallied from last when getting up in the final jump to post a 35-1 upset Saturday in the $150,000 Unbridled Stakes, a seven-furlong race in the Florida Sire Stakes lineup.
With Juan Leyva riding for trainer Bill Kaplan, Yourdreamsormine nipped Wicked Rascal on the wire, returning $73.60 after finishing in 1:23.50 over a track that had taken quite a bit of water from a late-afternoon shower but still was labeled fast.
Wicked Rascal had fought off Niconellie and Focus On Me to forge a tenuous lead in deep stretch, but the outside run of Yourdreamsormine nailed him on the money. Owned by Ione Elkins, Yourdreamsormine, a dark bay colt by Mr. Sekiguchi, won for the third time in 15 career starts when making his stakes debut.
“I was screaming, 'Get second, get second!’ ” said Kaplan. “I didn't think he was gonna get there, but he got up in the last jump. It was a remarkable race.”
The $2 exacta (4-10) paid $464.20, the $1 trifecta (4-10-6) returned $1,320.60, and the 10-cent superfecta (4-10-6-9) was worth $1,601.87.
Dogwood Trail scores in Three Ring
Dogwood Trail ($2.40) glided to a 2 1/2-length score over the 74-1 shot Savingtime in capturing the $150,000 Three Ring Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, finishing the seven furlongs in 1:24.26.
In making her first start since winning the Grade 3 Azalea on the July 5 Summit of Speed card here, Dogwood Trail allowed owner-breeder Jacks or Better Farm and trainer Stanley Gold to extend their respective records in the Florida Sire Stakes series to 17 wins.
Pursuing Fate led for the first half-mile of the Three Ring, but Dogwood Trail always was ready to pounce to her outside. Leaving the quarter-pole, Dogwood Trail surged away and was easily clear of a belated run from Savingtime.
Dogwood Trail is by Awesome of Course, the Jacks or Better stallion who stands at Journeyman Stud. The chestnut filly now has won 4 of 7 starts.
The $2 exacta (3-2) paid $28.80, the $1 trifecta (3-2-6) returned $90.30, and the 10-cent superfecta (3-2-6-1) was worth $32.81.
