Yourdreamsormine wins 2015 Unbridled
Lauren King Yourdreamsormine wins the Unbridled Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

Yourdreamsormine could be headed to turf following his 35-1 upset of the inaugural $150,000 Unbridled division of the Florida Sire Stakes at Gulfstream Park last Saturday. He is one of at least four horses trainer Bill Kaplan is pointing for a Sept. 5 program that features eight stakes, with most of the races spotlighting horses bred in Florida.

Yourdreamsormine closed from last for a head win in the Unbridled, a seven-furlong race for which he earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 87. It was the first stakes win for the colt, a three-time winner who now is being considered for the $150,000 Prized division of the Florida Sire Stakes. It will be run over a mile on turf at Gulfstream.

“We’ve kind of used up our conditions other than stakes, so we might try him on the turf going long,” Kaplan said. “He sure ran good the other day. We were very fortunate to have an extremely fast pace.”

Yourdreamsormine was meant to try turf in his third career start, but the one-mile race was moved to the main track. He won his maiden at six furlongs and is a winner at a mile, with all of his victories coming at Gulfstream. Yourdreamsormine races for Ione Elkins.

Kaplan said other candidates for stakes on the Sept. 5 program include My Point Exactly, a stakes winner who was third Aug. 8 in the $75,000 Eight Miles East at Gulfstream.

Kaplan also is looking to run Naval Command, a stakes winner on turf who was fourth against males in the $75,000 Jackson Bend at seven furlongs Aug. 8 at Gulfstream, and Moment of Delight, a multiple stakes-placed filly who was fifth Aug. 8 in the $150,000 Three Ring at Gulfstream.

Kaplan wins at an above-average rate with 2-year-olds, and Charming Fantasy will attempt to add to his statistics when she makes her debut in the sixth race Friday at Gulfstream. She starts in a maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies at five furlongs on the grass. The race drew 11.

“She’s bred for the turf,” Kaplan said, noting that Charming Fantasy is by Leroidesanimaux.

Leroidesanimaux was a multiple Grade 1 winner on grass who is getting 16 percent debut turf winners, according to Daily Racing Form statistics. Charming Fantasy is a half-sister to Imperial Czar, a multiple stakes winner and earner of $368,773.

Kaplan believes Charming Fantasy will want more distance, but he said she’s been forward in her training, and he expects a good race Friday.
