You Know Too is cream of White Clay Creek field
All seven 2-year-old fillies entered in the $50,000 White Clay Creek Stakes at Delaware Park on Wednesday won their most recent start, but none has been more impressive than You Know Too.
A daughter of Colonel John trained by Michael Gorham, You Know Too is one of four debut winners in the field for the 5 1/2-furlong race. She made her 9-2 odds look generous by going right to the lead under jockey Erick Rodriguez, who never really asked her to run while winning by six lengths. The 73 Beyer Speed Figure she earned is the highest in the White Clay Creek field by seven points.
“She’s quick, she does everything really easy, and she isn’t hard on herself,” Gorham said. “We were looking at different spots with her, but we’re stabled at Delaware, and this looks like a pretty good stepping-stone to her future.”
Gorham, a winner of 1,155 races, has been based at Delaware Park since 1996. He has won 499 races at the track.
Gorham has given You Know Too a pair of bullet works since her win. She drilled five furlongs in 1:01.40 on July 13 and then a half-mile in 47.40 seconds on July 23.
“She’s worked well, definitely, since her win,” Gorham said. “If she does run well, we’ll step her up in company next time.”
