You Know I Know may run in San Antonio
You Know I Know, unraced since finishing eighth in the $1 million Pacific Classic at Del Mar last August, is a candidate for the $500,000 San Antonio Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita, trainer John Sadler said.
“I do want to see what the field looks like,” Sadler said.
A 6-year-old gelding, You Know I Know was third in the San Diego Handicap last July and third in the Pacific Classic in 2013.
The San Antonio Stakes is run at 1 1/8 miles. The field is led by California Chrome, the 2014 Horse of the year, and Shared Belief, the 2013 champion 2-year-old male. They were third and fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic here on Nov. 1, and won Grade 1 races in the final five weeks of 2014.
Other candidates for the San Antonio are Alpha Bird, Bronzo, Dynamic Sky, Hoppertunity, Imperative, and Tonito M.
Racing officials are hoping to attract at least eight runners in the leading prep race for the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap on March 7. To attract interest from owners and trainers, the track is guaranteeing that all starters will receive at least $20,000 in prize money. The race pays $300,000 to first, $100,000 to second, $60,000 to third and $30,000 to fourth.
