John Duca/SV Photography You Bought Her, ridden by Brian Pedroza, pays $35.60 for winning the Minaret.

OLDSMAR, Fla. - Charging down the middle of the racing strip under a strong ride by Brian Pedroza, 16-1 shot You Bought Her ran down favored R Free Roll in the closing strides to capture the $50,000 Minaret Stakes for fillies and mares by a half-length Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs.

You Bought Her, who earned her third win from four lifetime starts over the Tampa main strip, raced in midpack through the early going as R Free Roll cut blistering fractions of 21.96 and 44.78 seconds.

Turning for home, R Free Roll drew off a bit to the furlong marker but Pedroza had You Bought Her in high gear in the middle of the track and through the final furlong that pair wore down the leader, getting up in the shadow of the wire. The winning time for six furlongs was 1:09.92.

You Bought Her, who is trained by David Hinsley, returned $35.60 while earning the $30,000 winner’s share of the Minaret. Puddifoot, who threatened outside leaving the turn, weakened in the drive to finish third.
