Yonkers: Yagonnakissmeornot best in $309,800 Blue Chip Matchmaker

Yagonnakissmeornot Matchmaker Final
Mike Lizzi Yagonnakissmeornot went from bridesmaid last year to champion this year, taking home the Blue Chip Matchmaker

Yagonnakissmeornot made good on a second-over trip, rolling by the pressured pacemaker Sell A Bit N in the deep stretch to capture the $309,800 final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday night. Driven by Dan Dube for trainer Rene Allard, the 7-year-old daughter of The Panderosa paced to a 1:51 4/5 effort, her third consecutive victory.

The runner-up in last year's finale, Yagonnakissmeornot was reserved in the early stages as Krispy Apple vaulted from post eight to the front with Sell A Bit N squeezing into the pocket briefly before moving to the front in a 27 1/5 opening quarter.

Jordan Stratton had Sell A Bit N poised on the lead, but took on serious pressure when Lady Shadow pulled before the half to apply pressure, followed by the race winner. The half was in 55 3/5, and three-quarters in 1:23 2/5 with Sell A Bit N edging off on the final turn.

Dube kicked wide with Yagonnakissmeornot on the final turn and charged gamely, winning by two lengths. Sell A Bit N held determinedly for the place with the late-closing Al Raza N third. Regil Elektra finished inside for fourth with Venus Delight earning the final check.

A 3- 1 proposition, Yagonnakissmeornot won for the fourth time in seven starts this year for owners Allard Racing, Yves Sarrazin and Kapildeo Singh.

"She's just a tough mare," said Dube following the victory. "I was looking to leave, but they left outside and inside, and she can do it either way."

"She finally got the recognition she deserves," said Rene Allard about the pacing mare. "It seems she was always good in eliminations and then something happened in the final."

Earlier, Allard and Dube also captured the $75,000 consolation with Carolsideal. She made a quarter-move to the front and never looked back, scoring easily in 1:52 1/5 with a 27 3/5 final quarter. A 7-year-old Western Ideal mare, Carolsideal defeated Anndrovette and Inittowinafortune.
