Yonkers: Tuesday 9/24 Analysis

Matt Rose|Sep 23, 2019
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2019 STATS: 418 - 1002 / $1,872.80 (-$131.20)
BEST BETS: 49 - 85 / $150.30 (-$19.70)
Best Bet:
NEON SKY N (3rd)
Spot Play: MEETYOUATMIDNIGHT (7th)
Race 7 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 Pool
Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming

(3) BJ’S GUY is a shell of his former self but at least he’s shown some early life in his last couple, including a very sharp start from the outside post last week; Bartlett drives tonight and may be worth a look if the price is decent. (6) WILD WEST goes for another new barn off the claim and has been razor-sharp in all recent. (2) NORTHERN ASSASSIN A returns locally from Monticello riding a two-race winning streak. (4) RANSOM DEMAND could be best of a very shaky rest.
Race 2 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(1) CRAZYCAT has always had breaking issues but he’s probably best here if he minds his manners; hold your breath into the first turn if you back him. (3) MERRY HANOVER is still looking for her first seasonal win but she seems fast enough to compete here and should be coming late. (2) WILD SMILE was no match at all for the top ones last out but did hold on for a small share; veteran should be a board threat again. (4) WINDSUN MISSILE ships down from Saratoga off a front-end score and driver Brett Crawford will likely be on the move early tonight.
Race 3 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(3) NEON SKY N finished with alert pace from third over in her local return and the Adamczyk trainee appears to be sitting on a big effort. (8) CERTIFIED IDEAL should be a major player against this type even from post eight; let’s hope Zeron can improve position early with the veteran. (2) COFFEE’S READY arrives from Maryland and joins the Dane, Jr. barn and she’s got good speed with an inside draw. (5) SWEET YOU can go with these and Mike Kimelman did drive a winner here last week.
Race 4 - $20,000 Claiming
(5) MATT MAJOR was looming large from the pocket last week but got jammed up looking for room and ended up breaking; overall the veteran has looked much better since moving to the Banca barn and he can offer some decent value in this competitive event. (4) LYONS WILLIAM hasn’t raced that badly off the Riedel claim and the post relief should help his cause. (8) JK HEAVEN SENT was reclaimed again by DiDomenico and all of his recent wins have come in his barn, but this is a tough spot tonight. (2) BORN OF FIRE moves up in class going in for a tag off last week’s win and is tough to take on top as the morning-line favorite.
Race 5 – F&M NW7500 in last 5 starts
(4) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE moved to the Banca barn last week and gave it a big speed try before tiring late, losing to a sharp rival; mare must be followed off that effort. (2) SEZANA N moves from the “NW” conditioned ranks and gets much-needed post relief; Brennan’s choice. (5) FAITHFUL DESIRE does fit well with this type and belongs on the ticket somewhere. (1) THREEDEE DELIGHT A has raced pretty well in her last couple and she draws best.
Race 6 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) SHEZALLAPPLES A paced a very good back half from a tough spot to land a small share last week and the import figures to be much tighter tonight. (4) LK’S NANCY LEE looks like one of the main speeds here which should give the Garcia-Herrera trainee a tactical advantage. (2) NEWSDAY finally found a winning spot last week and got off the seasonal schneid but the mare faces a bit tougher here; not impossible but it’s tough to take a short price. (3) ROSY OUTLOOK fired from the eight hole and was a game second to Newsday at a big price last out; mare can land a nice share again.
Race 7 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(6) MEETYOUATMIDNIGHT is still winless on the season but the veteran may never find a softer spot than this; Tirella trainee is running out of excuses. (3) OUTLOUD has been a major disappointment since shipping from Indiana but he did show some life in a conditioned race at Freehold. (1) PROPHET BLUE CHIP does show a good local effort from the rail a couple of months back. (4) ALBERT A SCOOTIN hails from good connections.
Race 8 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(2) ROCK N TONY woke up in a big way with the move to the DiDomenico barn and he can double up here as Holland’s choice. (1) TWIN B SPEEDO put in a decent effort in defeat last week off the shelf and can build off that race. (4) THEFREEDOMFIGHTERN never got involved last week with Stratton catch-driving; he gets Bartlett tonight from a seemingly better spot. (6) VALRHONA put in a good speed try last out; this is a much tougher spot tonight but perhaps he can round out the bottom of the ticket.
Race 9 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(4) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY had no realistic chance in his three starts off the Devita claim but he gets needed class and post relief and Lachance has had some success catch-driving for this barn. (5) SHOW THE FASHION figures to be much more involved tonight for Brennan/DiDomenico. (2) CAMPORA N didn’t fire when called upon last week which ended him up in a tough spot; Vallee import has been underachieving since arriving. (6) ASTON HILL DAVE faltered in his two return starts at the basement level but it’s not like they were bad efforts; Laterza trainee is capable of much better.
Race 10 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(3) GOLD RUSH is still seeking that elusive first 2019 victory but that was a good effort in defeat last week when aggressively handled and the Stafford trainee should offer some value in this competitive event. (7) MACH TIME N plunges from the $40K claiming level for Banca and he’s got some speed to overcome the outside post. (2) NOX VEGAS BLUECHIP doesn’t win often but he’s raced well here in the past. (1) CONSTNTLYSIDEWAYS A held stubbornly for a board spot last out after a long uncovered trip and now he draws best; player.
Race 11 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR gets some class relief and he drops back in for a tag and more importantly he gets Bartlett back in the sulky. (1) EXS AND OHS never had an anxious moment as she crushed cheaper last week with Lasix added; Corelli trainee should be in line for a great trip from this spot. (3) LADY EAGLE has been a steady commodity since arriving locally and the post relief helps. (2) MUSCLE AVE returns from Running Aces and has had some success here in the past.
Race 12 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(2) DOJEA SOLO has been treading water for quite some time now but he’s always had good speed and this just feels like a good spot for the veteran. (1) DEMOCRACY N was Holland’s choice and he figures to work out a live trip; tough to take on top at his 8/5 listed morning-line, however. (6) WAVES OF FIRE A needed last week’s start and he can show more tonight. (4) SOHO LEVIATHAN A hasn’t beaten a single horse in three U.S. starts for Vallee; let’s hope for some improvement now that he drops in class again.
