Race 7 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 Pool
Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming
(5) BYBY LANDON returns from Freehold off a couple of sharp efforts and while he’s never had a ton of success at Yonkers the Chris Marino trainee should fit well here and offer fair value. (3) WILD WEST has been razor-sharp and stays at the winning level for Greg Merton, who dipped in for himself; one to beat. (2) DRAGON N KICKIN was a good second last week to a horse who’s won 100 in a row. (1) CANDELL has just one win over the last two years but was good two back; include for a share.
Race 2 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(2) WILD SMILE pops up with a big effort from time to time, and is always a good price; worth a look in this competitive field. (4) BINGO QUEEN finds a much better spot tonight and the classy mare is definitely a player. (3) DIRTY SECRET rallied mildly for a minor award last out and she gets needed post relief. (1) ONE OF THE FEW is an obvious contender from the best post for top connections.
Race 3 - $20,000 Claiming
(1) MATT MAJOR has looked like a new horse since moving to the Banca barn and he can trip out tonight. (5) SOHO JACKMAN A beat the top choice last week making it two straight at miniscule odds; veteran goes for another new barn tonight but stays at the winning level. (3) BIG TURN ON moves to a better post and he can come out of this with a piece. (4) SOME GOLD has shown little in two starts off the Fusco claim but he does move in a few slots.
Race 4 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(6) CERTIFIED IDEAL went way too fast and fizzled out when dropped to this level in a strange race; mare will undoubtedly offer good value from this spot and doesn’t seem impossible. (7) NEON SKY N is another mare with back class but like the top choice the post is a concern; picking up Stratton helps. (5) SHEER TALENT will be headed to the front but could be lacking late; use caution. (4) SWEET YOU has been competitive with this type in the past for the Kimelman barn.
Race 5 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(4) BLENHEIM was a winner right off the move to the Lance Hudson barn and he essentially gets a free ride tonight. (6) APLOMB HANOVER has raced well here when he stays trotting and he can add some value underneath. (5) BROADWAY CREDIT could be a speed threat from Team Bongiorno but needs to show more late in the mile. (1) MANOFMANYIMAGES is coming off a break and missed a couple of weeks; use caution.
Race 6 – F&M NW7500 in last 5 starts
(7) LINE DANCER hasn’t gotten involved in her last few and she lands outside again but the Bucci trainee has flashed speed in the past and she meets a very questionable field here. (4) NEWSDAY is coming off a clunker and is still shut out in 2019 but this does looks like a good spot for her to do some damage. (2) BETTERTHANBRIE has been ok in her last couple for the Temming barn. (5) DALI DELIGHT has really tailed off but anything resembling some of her prior local efforts will make her a player here.
Race 7 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(4) ASTON HILL DAVE just missed last week in a much-needed try coming off the shelf and the Laterza trainee should be able to handle these. (1) SETTLEMOIR was somehow odds-on last week and finished last after cutting the mile; veteran is having a tough year but he can get a piece with a smooth trip. (3) TWIN B SPEEDO fits here but may need a start off the layoff. (5) BORN OF FIRE returns from Plainridge and could be best of a weak rest.
Race 8 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(7) REGGIANO was flying in the late stages last week in a much-improved effort; post obviously hurts but the gelding should be a decent price. (6) ROCK N TONY has fallen on hard times but maybe the barn change to DiDomenico wakes him up. (1) GRAND MASTER was second best last out and is usually competitive at this NW5000 level. (4) CHEYENNE REIJANE is worthy of consideration but has been going just evenly lately.
Race 9 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(3) KAY’S DELIGHT has raced well since coming off the shelf and the mare looks to have found a winning spot. (4) LK’S NANCY LEE will likely be leaving with the winner and she will be a player if well-positioned. (2) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE moves to the Banca barn; shows improvement? (6) OSPREY BLUE CHIP hasn’t fired in her last few at Pocono; maybe the change in scenery helps.
Race 10 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(4) CAMPORA N hasn’t really fired in his two U.S. starts for Vallee but I’m willing to give him one more try. (2) CENTURY CHURCHILL returns locally in a good spot and figures to be aggressively handled. (6) THEFREEDOMFIGHTERN gets an interesting driver change to Stratton. (5) MISS U BIG MIKE has been close up in his last few out of town and returns locally now in the Fusco barn.
Race 11 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(4) VALRHONA hasn’t been bad recently and he gets post relief while meeting a very shaky field. (1) GALACTIC GALLEON N doesn’t win often for Vallee but it’s impossible to think he won’t be a major player from this spot. (7) DRUNK ON YOUR LOVE does have some early speed to get involved. (3) VORACITY has been a major disappointment this season; tough to like.
Race 12 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(2) CANBEC KINGKAZIMIR has had plenty of success here in the past for Bongiorno and he returns with a good inside post; veteran looks like a player in the finale. (1) CHANGE STRIDE N is another Vallee trainee seemingly in a good spot. (5) ARTMAGIC got the job done last week now faces a bit better but he does have back class. (6) SHOW THE FASHION hails from Brennan/DiDomenico and obviously merits respect.
