Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming
(1) COACH CAL has clearly found a nice home at this basement claiming level and the Garcia-Herrera trainee deserves a long look for the top spot from the best post. (5) LET’S FOAL AROUND has been making live moves recently but he does need to show a bit more late. (8) BROOKIES PRINCE N goes for his seventh straight but he’s stuck all the way outside and if there was ever a time for his streak to be snapped tonight could be it. (6) HORSING AROUND has been a disappointment this season but he does drop back down in class tonight.
Race 2 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(7) SHOWMEYOURGUNS woke up with a much better effort last week when dropped in class and while he bumps back up a notch he’s handled this type before and the gelding should offer a square price from this outside; he’s one of many in with a chance here. (1) WATKINS returns locally and he’s had plenty of success here in the past. (4) JERICHO raced well in defeat last week against lesser upon arrival from Plainridge. (5) ALPHA D’URZY gets needed class relief for Allard but the French-bred has little current form.
Race 3 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(1) NORTHERN SWIFT put in a huge effort in defeat upon arrival, getting run down by the trip-sitter late; Drolet trainee deserves top billing off that effort but won’t offer a ton of value. (4) FOOLISH HEART was Stratton’s choice of four in here and she returns locally off a decent-enough qualifier at Harrington. (3) FRANNEY LOVE DAT gets needed post relief and should be more involved from this spot. (2) PIRINEA’S PRINCESS is tough to endorse for the top spot but she can save ground and land a share.
Race 4 - $20,000 Claiming
(3) LYONS WILLIAM is up in class again going for another new barn via claim (Garcia-Herrera) and he sharp sort seems live enough to take his third straight. (8) SWIFT AS A SHADOW overcame the right hole last week and was a solid second; veteran will need some help again from this poor post for his new barn but the sharp veteran must be considered. (1) MARTIAL BLISS is up in class a notch off the Ty Pena claim but he draws best and should be in line for a good trip. (2) TWIN B IMPRESSIVE doesn’t win often enough to endorse for the top spot but he can round out the Tri or Super.
Race 5 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(1) THEFREEDOMFIGHTERN raced well from the eight hole upon arrival to pick up a check and the gelding had been competitive with similar out of town; he’s logical selecting moving all the way inside and hopefully he’s not overbet. (5) REGGIANO couldn’t hack a two-move effort last week at Pocono but his prior efforts were good. (7) VORACITY has been a huge disappointment for these connections but I have to think he’ll graduate out of NW5000 eventually. (4) NEPTUNE has been lightly raced recently but the veteran has a decent local history.
Race 6 - $20,000 Claiming
(3) OUR DRAGON KING was a solid uncovered winner off the DiDomenico claim and he seems sharp enough to take another. (2) BUGGER BRUISER gets needed post relief and will be much more involved tonight; Stratton’s choice. (4) JK HEAVEN SENT bumped up in class off the Carmine Fusco claim but didn’t factor; he’s back at the $20K level and picks up Bartlett. (5) SOME GOLD has been good recently but he faces some good competition inside of him; small piece?
Race 7 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts **$10K GTD PICK-5**
(3) CERTIFIED IDEAL is a certified player at this NW10000 level and Dube may try sending him to the front here to secure at least a pocket trip behind (1) LK’S NANCY LEE. The latter did a good job to hold second after being bottomed out by a runaway 1/5 winner last out; she’s the one to beat tonight. (2) AMBRO COURAGE never got close last week but the move inside should help. (6) LYONS JENNIELEE gets Jodran Stratton back in the bike tonight for his brother and is a player here.
Race 8 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR went a long trip on the rim last week but didn’t give up any ground late; French trotter seems to be knocking on the door and would be no surprise here with smooth sailing. (2) ONE OF THE FEW was in a poor spot last out and was left with too much to do; DiDomenico trainee can threaten with a better trip. (1) SOUTHWIND CRUZE will be a player here if he minds his manners. (7) ROSE RUN SYDNEY is back up in class after barely getting the job done at the NW5000 level; don’t accept too short of a price.
Race 9 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(6) ALEPPO HANOVER hasn’t earned a penny in his last five starts but was a dominating winner when last at this level and that was with Brennan in the bike; he could be a player here at a decent price. (1) MAKASI ships from Hoosier for a barn that’s been pretty good here with their imports; Bartlett’s choice. (5) CHEYENNE SEEBER has been okay at this level recently; board threat. (7) TIGERS WAY gets needed class relief for Lachance but is stuck outside; he looks like another contender here in this evenly-matched field.
Race 10 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) ALWAYS WOGGY has been racing well with better of late and the class relief may be what it takes to get this mare over the top. (2) SANSOVINA HANOVER returns locally for Burke and draws well; threat. (1) NEWSDAY just missed four back from a similar spot. (6) JK JAZZITUP drops back to the level of her last win, picks up Bartlett and could be an early speed threat.
Race 11 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(5) FASHION BYTHEBEACH returns from Saratoga off two nice wins versus a bit lesser and the Hudson trainee race big in defeat in his last local try. (1) COUGAR HALL was solid on the front end last out and he’s been great this year after returning from a LONG layoff; veteran may have another class in him. (2) TREMENDOUS PLAY took care of business last week and he has shown some promising efforts with better than these in the not-to-distant past. Looks like any of the rest can be considered to round out the Superfecta.
Race 12 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) MODERN REFLECTION debuts for Devita off the claim and while he may seem a little short here class-wise this barn and been pretty good lately (with Lachance catch-driving) and he can offer some value in the finale. (1) ALWAYS A SHARK is a legit threat to take these coast-to-coast for Team Bongiorno. (4) KILLER MARTINI suffered a broken hobble last out but overall his form this season has been a bit sketchy; use caution. (3) DRUNK ON YOUR LOVE has been a major underachiever but he does have talent.
