Yonkers: Tuesday 8/13 Analysis

Matt Rose|Aug 12, 2019
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2019 STATS: 347 - 823 / $1,562.10 (-$83.90)
BEST BETS: 39 - 70 / $115.50 (-$24.50)
Best Bet:
ANGEL’S PRIDE (8th)
Spot Play: FOOL ME ONCE (6th)
Race 7 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 Pool
Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming

(5) WILD WEST took a while to get going off the Brittany Robertson claim but he’s raced much better in his last two and seems primed to finally break through. (2) MACHLICIOUS goes for another new barn off the claim (Garcia-Herrera) and has raced well since arriving from Ohio. (3) WINKWINKNUDGENUDGE was okay last week and may have found a home at this claiming level. (4) FIRST CAR has poor current form but he exits the amateur ranks and picks up Sears.
Race 2 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(7) SOUTHWIND CRUZE will certainly appreciate the class relief and the Bongiorno charge seems more than capable despite the poor post; trotter obviously has to behave himself, however. (5) ONE OF THE FEW finished very well in his last two and the DiDomenico trainee is the one to beat. (2) VOLARE is trying to find the proper classification for Allard after graduating from the NW ranks and he drops in for a tag tonight; he’s got some speed and a good draw. (3) ANOTHER BREATH arrives from Chicago and could fit well here but may need an acclimating mile.
Race 3 - $15,000/$20,000 Claiming
(3) BJ’S GUY finds himself back with familiar connections who had this veteran racing at a high level a couple of years back; kind of intriguing here at his 20/1 morning line (let’s watch the board for “clues”).
(1) MACHERATI was hung to dry three back from the eight hole when exiting the amateur ranks but otherwise he’s been sharp since moving to the Dane, Jr. barn and he’s get the best post here with Brennan driving. (6) WESTERN ROCKSTAR A drops in for a tag for Harris and the underachieving type could be a player if he behaves himself. (4) LYONS WILLIAM steps up off the claim looking for two straight.
Race 4 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(3) ISLAY N was a sharp winner at this level when last seen locally and she meets a rather suspect field here; top billing. (4) DEUCES FOR CHARITY needed last week’s start and didn’t race all that badly from a no-chance spot; she doesn’t win often but could grab a big piece with a smooth trip. (2) PRETTY REAL DESIRE qualified effectively enough and will be on or near the lead from this spot. (5) FANTICIPATION has some ugly recent lines but she does have some class to her.
Race 5 - $20,000 Claiming
(1) TWIN B IMPRESSIVE is nowhere close to what he once was but he still throws in some live efforts from time to time and wouldn’t be a shock here if Siegelman can work out a perfect trip; the Ceraso/Stafford barn has quietly been having a solid meet. (3) JOE HILL didn’t fire last out off the claim but he may be sent to the front from this spot tonight. (4) DONAU can usually be counted on for an honest effort; board threat. (5) SOME GOLD hung a bit last out but overall he’s been racing well.
Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(4) FOOL ME ONCE is a classy veteran millionaire who returns from Canada to join Team Bongiorno; instant respect. (7) LONDON SEELSTER takes a big drop in class and has to be considered a threat even from this poor post. (1) OUTLOUD ships from Indiana where he’s has a disappointing 3YO season; don’t accept too short of a price. (3) MEETYOUATMIDNIGHT has solid speed which sets him up well but he needs more finishing.
Race 7 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) SANDY’S BEACH hasn’t done much recently but the class relief may be just what the doctor ordered for this Allard trainee. (7) BONTZ N faltered last week at 15 cents on the dollar and now lands outside; much better price if you give her another chance. (4) LINE DANCER qualified decently and should fit this level well. (6) AMBRO COURAGE N can come on late for a share.
Race 8 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) ANGEL’S PRIDE is an Open-caliber pacing mare when right and it’s not like she’s been alarmingly awful or anything like that while facing much better; short price looming. (1) LK’S NANCY LEE can be excused for last week’s effort where she was parked the mile; mare has speed and the rail. (2) SWEET YOU retains a catch driver and should be able to land a nice share from this good post. (3) BOOGIE ROLL is a 3-year-old filly facing much more seasoned foes; I’ll let her beat me.
Race 9 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(3) BETTING EXCHANGE has always fit well at this NW10000 level and he could have more to offer tonight making just his fifth start of the year. (1) IN SPADES drops, draws best and will be a player throughout. (6) MACINTOSH N was Brennan’s choice over a few others in here; use the veteran if you like that angle. (5) ARQUE HANOVER has always felt like the underachieving type to me but he’s been a steady commodity at this level recently.
Race 10 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(4) BIT OF A LEGEND N was very game late when it looked like he was going to be caught in his win last out (in a hurricane); veteran deserves a follow-up play. (2) VAGUE TRACES returns from The Meadows and has had some moderate success here in the past. (8) BABES DIG ME gets needed class relief but can Sears get him involved from this tough post? (now that most holes seem to be closed)? (1) ROCK THE NITE gets a much better draw and could be a player.
Race 11 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) LADY EAGLE races very well two back at Pocono and likely needed that last start; mare draws well in this competitive affair and is worth a look. (4) SEVENTH HEAVEN has looked much better in her last two for Allard. (3) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR has been “okay” since moving to the Bamond barn; small share? (8) KADABRA QUEEN arrives from Mohawk and immediately lands in post eight; keep an eye on her however.
Race 12 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) HALF A BILLION never got involved last week but his start two back upon arrival from Saratoga was solid; do we see early speed tonight? I think so. (3) SPORTSKEEPER drops in class and gets much-needed post relief; that combo makes him a major player. (1) VALRHONA should land a share with a smooth tri;. (4) DOJEA SOLO is better than he’s been showing and he does have good gate speed; does Vallee take a shot off the gate (complicating my top choice)?
