Race 1 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace

(1) NORTHERN JACK comes off an improved effort from an outside post at the Meadowlands and draws the pole in an absolutely wide-open race here. I'm unwilling to take a short price on any of these, so I'll hope this guy has some value. (6) THEREISAPACEFORUS has closed well in his last pair but appears to lack any kind of early speed, which I think puts him at a disadvantage at potentially low odds. (2) BIG TURN ON hasn't hit the board in ten starts in 2020 but did show enough speed from post nine to land in the pocket two back at the Meadowlands and has a good post here for a stalking trip.

Race 2 - New York Sire Stakes 3YO Filly Trot

(1) WITHOUT A WARNING raced very well up at Batavia, cutting the mile and finishing third in a track record effort by Love A Good Story. She avoids that foe here and might be able to control things again from the pole. (5) ISLAND LILY was in the weaker sire stakes division at Batavia but took advantage by winning easily. She does move to the outside draw here. (2) DESTINY BLUE CHIP finished second to Island Lily at Batavia and is still in search of her first career win.

Race 3 - Excelsior A Series 3YO Filly Trot

(1) HUSHABYE lands the pole and gets Bartlett tonight after two solid efforts. I'll hope for a little more improvement and a win. (5) LADY JETER scored a win in the Excelsior Series at Batavia. Daley is usually pretty aggressive, so I'll expect him to be going forward. (6) C AND T'S CREDIT won in the Excelsior Series at Vernon and then didn't have the smoothest of journeys at Batavia. She was the Excelsior Series champion a season ago, so she's a proven threat against these.

Race 4 - Excelsior A Series 3YO Filly Trot

(5) SORPRESE opened up a big lead at Batavia and won in facile fashion. I don't know if it'll be that easy again, but I do prefer her in this field based on her last two performances. (2) FLOTUS had control of the race in her division at Batavia but couldn't hold off Lady Jeter. She draws inside here and will probably be going out in search of the lead again. (6) ILLDOITMYSELF returns to the Excelsior A Series after a third in the sire stakes at Batavia. She hasn't won in 15 career attempts, but I think can be used underneath.

Race 5 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot

(3) DRAZZMATAZZ won this time last year at Yonkers when he found himself in the NW5000L5 class, and I'll look for history to repeat itself. He doesn't meet up with too tough a group, and I think Bongiorno will have him in position. (2) MAJESTIC BRAYDEN is sure to get plenty of notice as he drops a level off a third against NW10000L5's. He also gets some post relief. (1) RAP SHEET owns a recent win over NW3's at Harrah's Philadelphia. The NW5 group there was probably too tough, but this looks like a more reasonable spot.

Race 6 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot

(4) FRIEND OF NATURE S finished second against NW5000L5's when last seen at Yonkers on the 14th of July. He gave way at the Meadowlands after that, but I do like the speed he showed, and hope he'll do the same here. (5) SHOWMEYOURGUNS looks like a logical wake-up candidate, dropping to the bottom level. He was second as the favorite against NW10000L5's at Yonkers on 6-22. (1) ARRAKIS won at Yonkers back in the winter prior to the shutdown and qualified well at Pocono most recently.

Race 7 - NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/20000CLM Pace

(5) VASARI N hikes up from the NW5000L5 class off a dominating win. I liked the way he finished that mile off, appearing to have something left, and will give him the nod. (3) MILITARY MASTER A is in the same boat as my top pick, moving to NW10000L5's after winning. He was Stratton's choice of two. (1) MR HAM SANDWICH closed well on 7-31 against NW10000L5's from an outside draw. He slides inside to the pole this time, and while rejected by Stratton, he still appears to be a contender.

Race 8 - NW17500L5/30000CLM Pace

(8) FLAMING FLUTTER N didn't get much of a reward for winning in this class last time as he has post eight tonight, but this horse has gone some big trips from outside draws at other venues, and so I'll trust that experience will carry over. (1) OUR MAX PHACTOR N finished second against NW25000L5's two back at Yonkers, so he certainly appears logical as he returns after racing at the Meadowlands most recently. (3) BOBBY DAZZLER steamrolled a group of NW10000L5's and moves up tonight. That was an impressive performance and he closed with a fast last quarter, too.

Race 9 - NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/20000CLM Pace

(1) MEADOWBROOK FLASH got to racing pretty well before racing shut down and has been in tough against NW8's since coming back. I think he's in an easier position against optional $20,000 claimers and will hope he takes advantage. (2) CAL paced home with a good final quarter to finish third in that race won by Bobby Dazzler back on the 28th of July. He moves inside from post five to post two. (3) MY SPIRIT SOARS enters in good form with a win and a second in his last pair. He does move up in class tonight but was Scott Zeron's choice.
