Yonkers: Tuesday 7/9 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jul 08, 2019
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 288 - 664 / $1,195.40 (-$132.60)

BEST BETS: 31 - 58 / $91.50 (-$24.50)

Best Bet: TEXAS TERROR N (12th)

Spot Play: SWEET YOU (3rd)

Race 7 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 Pool

Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming

(2) OUR ART AND HEAVEN was a solid second last week, flashing good speed at both ends of his mile. That was clearly a much-improved effort and anything resembling that race can get him in the winner’s circle tonight. (6) UF ROCKIN DRAGON has regressed off the Ruiz claim but maybe some early aggression from Bongiorno can land him a live trip. (8) LET’S FOAL AROUND ships in for Berry, gets an interesting driver chance to Dube and would be a big player (and maybe even a top selection) had he not drawn the eight hole. (1) B’S WEDDIE has been sucking his owner dry for ages but he should be able to squeak out a small share from the best post.

Race 2 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(1) KING CAST has had some behavioral issues recently but with smooth sailing from this inside post the gelding is capable of beating these; don’t accept too short of a price, however. (3) BINGO QUEEN probably should have win last week but came up a head shy; veteran mare makes nice money year after year and she could come away with a big chunk here. (2) CRESURREY returns locally, draws well, has good speed and Bartlett driving; he just needs to show more late. (7) ANNAPOLIS HALL gets Stratton in the bike again for Schnittker but they did come up a bit short last week at 6/5; price will be MUCH more generous tonight.

Race 3 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts

(1) SWEET YOU returns locally off a nice try at Saratoga but most importantly she gets the catch-driving Stratton in the bike. (5) FIREBBY A drops in class off a decent effort; logical. (6) PASULTIMATEDELITE N didn’t have the easiest of trips in her last local try; she seems like the underachieving type but is worth including at 20/1 morning line. (4) FAMILY ROLL CALL raced evenly last out; Bartlett drives again.

Race 4 – NW5000 in last 5 starts

(4) SOTO was a top-notch FFA pacer not too long ago…what happened? I have to assume he still has the class to beat these. (1) MEETYOUATMIDNIGHT has solid speed and the best draw but has been lacking late in his miles. (3) CANDELL didn’t fire in his local return; he does move in a couple of spots tonight. (6) DENVER SEELSTER ships in off a speedy win at Ocean Downs and he picks up Bartlett.

Race 5 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(2) APLOMB HANOVER returned locally last week, aggressively pulled pocket then fended off a classy rival; he may get a bit overlooked in the wagering again with the owner/trainer in the bike. (6) OOH RAH always gives a good accounting of himself (when he behaves himself); Lachance returns with the drive looking to repeat. (1) TIDQUIST hasn’t won in a while but always makes money at this level. (4) MISSUS MIA WALLACE ships north sporting some decent form over the half-milers and we’ll see how the mare fits with these class-wise.

Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5 starts

(3) ARAMIS N put in a big effort in defeat when last at this NW5000 level for Tritton and this looks like a live spot to get off the seasonal schneid. (1) GRAND MASTER was aggressively handled last week but could not handle the two-move effort; speed and the best draw makes this veteran a player. (6) HEAVENLY SOUND is another 0-fer in here but he’s been facing much better. (4) FIREBALL and (5) ON THE VIRG are a couple of other class-droppers deserving of a look.

Race 7 - $20,000 Claiming

(3) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY looked good the second he pulled uncovered last week and he got the job done at a nice price; Stratton sticks and he seems capable of repeating, albeit at a shorter mutuel. (2) ROCK ON PRECIOUS bumps up into claimers off a solid uncovered score. (4) DAYLIGHT RUSH has really found his form in his last three at Pocono and he returns looking for two straight. (1) JOE HILL has done nothing off the $30K Allard claim and he drops in for $20K tonight; red flag?

Race 8 – NW20000 in last 5 starts

(3) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A has been racing well over at The Meadowlands and he’s been very competitive with this type here in the past; this looks like a good spot for Holland to be aggressive. (4) BET ON BRETT was no match to three tough ones last week but his prior races were solid and the Allard trainee looks like a player. (6) HAVEFAITHINME N gets needed class relief and will be on the move early; he’s clearly one of the prime contenders, and possibly the favorite. (1) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N was second best at this level two back and needs an alert getaway from the rail.

Race 9 – F&M NW10000 in last 5

(2) D GS ELSA moved to the Jenn Bongiorno barn last week and paced a big back half to be second best versus lesser; could she now be sharp enough to handle this type? (3) POPPY DRAYTON N returns locally off a confidence-building win at Pocono and gets Bartlett in the bike. (5) SIDEWALK DANCER was third best versus better in a local start two back. (5) FREEZE OUT is clearly not on her best game right now but I don’t think anyone would be shocked when she eventually turns it around; watch for signs of life.

Race 10 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts

(5) BELLATRICKS always prospers at this level and despite having some tough ones inside of her the price may be good enough to take a shot. (1) LINE DANCER went through the motions last week versus tougher from the eight hole; drop and move inside makes her an obvious player. (4) SHEZALLAPPLES A drops and was Bartlett’s choice but needs to show more. (3) DUDESALADY has raced well with better than these in the past.

Race 11 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(4) ROCK N TONY was in a no-chance spot last week from the eight hole in the oversized field; he was right there in his prior two efforts and overall he’s raced better since returning to the Erv Miller barn. (3) SHOREVIEW gets Bartlett in the bike for Andrew Harris; good combo worthy of obvious respect. (2) SOLO STORY returns locally in a good post and has raced well here in the past. (5) GILLYS BOY has looked better in recent starts but he draws outside some of his main competition; how on earth is he 2/1 on the morning line?

Race 12 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(2) TEXAS TERROR N seems good to go off that qualifier and this seems like a field he should handle. (3) RUN ONEOVER N has been a bit of a disappointment for the usually reliable Dilloian stable; he’ll pick up a win eventually. (4) CAVIART SKYLER has disappointed a bit of late but does fit well at this level. (6) DECISION DAY was third best in his last three at Philly; how about fourth best here at a big price?
