Yonkers: Tuesday 7/23 Analysis

2019 STATS: 314 - 733 / $1,333.70 (-$132.30)
BEST BETS: 35 - 63 / $103.30 (-$22.70)
Best Bet: DARK POOL (9th)
Spot Play: DEWAR N SODA (4th)
Race 6 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 Pool
Note: These selections are made under the assumption that George Brennan will be racing on the card, as he was the subject of a controversial DQ on Saturday night and may be “taking days”.
Race 1 - $12,500/$15,000 Clm Hcp
(7) BIG N BAD isn’t what he used to be but he still has talent and can flash big-time speed as needed. Veteran was Brennan’s surprising choice over (5) BROOKIE’S PRINCE N, a horse he’s won three in a row with. The latter changes hands off the claim looking to extend the streak and while he can be a handful behind the gate, once he gets straightened out he’s all business. (2) BJ’S GUY is a shadow of his former self but he inherits the rail here and will be close up throughout. (6) MACH ONE was third best in in his last two at this level and figures to pick up another piece tonight.
Race 2 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) MAGIC MVP has hit the board in his last five starts out of town and he picks up Holland for his local debut while facing a field with some question marks. (1) MANOFMANYIMAGES has been racing just evenly of late and while he definitely lands in a winning spot I wouldn’t accept too short of a price on him. (7) STORMY KROMER gets much-needed class relief and was MacDonald’s choice (though he may be on the sidelines as well due to a recent racing accident). (2) ONE OF THE FEW figures to be more involved from the better post.
Race 3 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(2) PATRONNE SEELSTER wired a cheaper field at Monticello in 1:56 3/5 last out then was scratched last week in that debacle in last Tuesday’s opener; Jordan Stratton returns in the bike and they may be looking to go wire-to-wire. (3) QUITE A DELIGHT N was okay in her last pari-mutuel try and the Dilloian trainee was Bartlett’s choice. (6) GORDY AGAIN moves to the Banca stable; shows some improvement? (despite Bartlett opting off). (8) MISCHIEVOUSGIRLS gets a big driver upgrade to Marohn, Jr. and she figures to be a huge price from the eight hole; consider underneath.
Race 4 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(7) DEWAR N SODA has been a massive disappointment this season but she does drop in class and was Bartlett’s choice of four in here. (5) CAREER FAMILY rallied well to be third best two back at this level at 98/1 and she figures to have a chance here. (3) FAMILY ROLL CALL may be able to step over the two inside horses early which could set her up with a live trip. (8) BLACKNSWEET ADDA A should fit well with these but the eight hole is tough.
Race 5 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(3) RANCOUSY is still shut out on the season but he seems to drop into a winning spot tonight and Bongiorno should get aggressive with this one. (1) PERFECT BET gets needed class and post relief; obvious player. (5) WESTERN ROCKSTAR has been behaving himself recently and it always seems there’s more to the Harris trainee than he’s been showing. (2) TITANIUM N finished willingly last week and can save ground to hit the ticket again.
Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(2) VORACITY was a “Saturday night” horse when Burke had him but he’s fallen on hard times for his new barn; perhaps the drops to the basement level is what the doctor ordered. (4) GRAND MASTER does fit at this NW5000 level and eventually he’ll wake up with a better effort. (3) ARDIE B SPEED is another who’s gone sour but he’s capable of much better. (5) AWESOMENESS has underachieved here and is hard to take at a short price.
Race 7 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) DOJEA SOLO does fit at the NW10000 level and his early speed always sets him up with a shot; he’ll break through to the winner’s circle eventually. (1) TULLOW N returns locally with some class and post relief; Bartlett’s choice. (3) MARTY MONKHOUSER A can sit close up and land a share. (4) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A is not a prolific winner by any means but he is a steady check-earner; use underneath.
Race 8 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(4) BELLATRICKS is always a force at this NW10000 level and her early speed will put her in play. (2) SAFE FROM TERROR returns locally off a win and has been good with better than these in the past. (1) ACEFORTYFOUR ALEX is clearly feeling good again and should land a nice share from the best post. (5) JAG OUT is another with class relief who can make her presence felt but drawing outside what she needs to beat may limit her to a smaller share.
Race 9 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(4) DARK POOL has been on quite a roll and the trotter moves into a live barn via claim and stays at the same level; one to catch. (1) BATTLE MAGE couldn’t quite reach the leader last week at odds-on but gets another crack from the best post. (3) ANNAPOLIS HALL went a huge effort in defeat last out and Stratton drives again. (2) LANDONFITZ can land a small share with a ground-saving trip.
Race 10 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(5) SOMEWHERE IN L A may not be the Open commodity we’re used to seeing but the veteran should be able to handle these. (2) IDEAL COWBOY hasn’t been that bad recently and the good draw makes him a player. (1) BLATANTLY BEST was an off-the-pace winner two back at this level; rail draw makes him an obvious threat. (4) HEAVENLY SOUND takes a big bump up in class but the ability seems to be there.
