Race 7 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 pool
Race 1 - NW5000 in last 5 starts
(3) BAKERSFIELD is by no means a winning machine but he's impossible to pass up at this level. (7) MACH TIME N was a winner when last at this NW5000 level and he has to be considered a player here despite the post. (5) OUR DRAGON KING was going nowhere last week from the eight hole in his local return but he drops and moves in a few slots. (4) ROCK ABSORBER looks as ugly as could be on paper; like I said last week, who knows what to expect.
Race 2 - NW10000 in last 5 starts
(6) ANNAPOLIS HALL gets the important "Schnittker to Stratton" angle tonight which makes him an automatic play. (2) BINGO QUEEN has hit the ticket in her last four at this level and should do so again, assuming she behaves herself. (3) DRAZZMATAZZ showed improvement last start then was scratched-injured; be careful. (1) APLOMB HANOVER draws best for owner/trainer/driver Jordan Derue; piece?
Race 3 - F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(3) MOTU MOONBEAM N is another veteran on the card who doesn’t win often but should relish the drop in class. (1) BETTERTHANBRIE moves all the way from the eight hole to the rail, which makes the mare a player. (5) BYE BYE FELICIA is an interesting shipper and we’ll see how she fits here class-wise. (7) D GS ELSA moves to the Jenn Bongiorno barn; pay attention.
Race 4 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(2) SOHO JACKMAN A gets needed post relief and has fit this level well in the past; one of many options here in a competitive race. (1) ROCK ON PRECIOUS had some finishing pace last week in behind a runaway winner. (5) VICTORY AT LAST rallied well for second at a huge price last out with the trainer in the bike; back to Bongiorno tonight. (7) TRIPLE SEELSTER races well at this level and isn’t a bad bomb to consider.
Race 5 - $20,000 Claiming
(1) MARCED MAGIC changes hands again off a claim and he was solid in victory from the pocket last out; he may off a bit more value here than (4) DIAMOND COWBOY. The latter also debuts for new connections (DiDomenico) off a win and is a live player. (3) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY needs some help with a live trip but he can rally for a share. (6) NATURAL LEDA drops in for a tag and will be a healthy price; claim-bait?
Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
It’s kind of sad that (2) TEXICAN N is eligible for this level but how does he not win this? (1) VALIANT IVY gets class and post relief for his second local start; barn has had some live ones shipping in. (4) VALRHONA was a good second in his local return. (3) WAVES OF FIRE A gets both class and post relief as well and should land a share.
Race 7 – F&M NW10000 in last 5
(3) ROSE RUN TONI had finishing pace from the pocket last week once clear and Stratton sticks with the Lance Hudson trainee. (1) FREEZE OUT tired badly on the front end last out after setting a fast pace; Bucci trainee is a bit inconsistent but the talent is there. (2) MCVENUS probably should have won last week, but it wasn’t a bad effort. (5) BETABCOOL N was facing better when last at Yonkers.
Race 8 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(5) ORILLIA JOE drops back to a preferred level and this is a good spot to blast to the front and control the action. (1) IMAROCKNROLLLEGEND N closed well last week from too far back and he was a Levy contender not too long ago. (2) YS LOTUS closed a ton in his last two and should be a player again with good positioning in this oversized field. (4) LONDON SEELSTER hasn’t done much lately but Stratton does stick with him over a classy Tritton trainee.
Race 9 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(6) MISSILE J has been toiling out in the Midwest and hasn’t earned all that much this season but he returns to Yonkers and could show improvement at first asking. (3) LETSCHASETHEDREAMN returns locally at a reduced level and has looked much better in his last couple. (5) DOJEA SOLO does fit at this NW10000 level and does flash early speed on occasion. (2) SANATTLE SLEW wasn’t bad last week and can round out the gimmicks.
Race 10 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(3) LILY’S SWAN POND has been facing better than these recently with mixed results but the Surick trainee always makes good money here and should certainly be a live player from this spot. (2) SOUTHWIND CRUZE hung in the late stages last week but it was still a solid effort; staying flat is the key here for this Bongiorno trainee. (5) KING CAST suddenly has a bit of a breaking problem but he can be coming late if he behaves himself. (4) MYSTICAL POWER has shown little since arriving locally but it’s hard to ignore the Stratton/Hudson angle.
Race 11 – F&M NW10000 in last 5
(3) QUEEN JOSEPHINE beat better than these in the not-too-distant past, was Brennan’s choice, and should be heading down the road in the finale. (2) DEWAR N SODA had no excuse from the pocket last week but she’s better than that and may be in line for a similar trip here. (4) LK’S NANCY LEE steps back up sharp off the claim. (7) FIREBBY A makes just her third start of the year and needs to show more but she does face softer; watch the board.
