Race 1 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace
(1) LOVIN COCOA seemed like she turned a corner the last two times at the Meadowlands, first in the qualifier and then in the pari-mutuel start. She hasn't had much luck at Yonkers yet, but I'll swing with her from the rail and look for a bit of value. (2) BLACKWELL RUBY IR has been a heavy favorite in all her starts in North America but was defeated at Harrah's Philly two back and just held on by a nostril at the Meadowlands on 12-20. I respect her, but I'll try and beat her since she'll probably be something like 1-5. (4) ANURKA never got involved from post eight at the Meadowlands but those efforts against maidens at Harrah's Philly probably make her competitive here from a mid-pack post.
Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(7) SEVEN KNIGHTS makes his third start off the layoff tonight. He's been working his way down in class at both Ynkers and the Meadowlands and finds the bottom level in Westchester this time. Obviously a tough post, but hopefully he can get a trip and deliver. (2) THE LINDY TREATY held his own against $15,000 claimers and NW6000L5's at Saratoga to close out 2019. He draws well here and probably meets up with an easier field. (3) CON AIR HALL started off 2020 by winning against NW3500L5's at the Meadowlands. He remains a threat this low on the class scale at Yonkers and Bartlett takes over in the bike.
Race 3 - 10000CLM Pace
(3) INSPIRATION VIEW doesn't have much in the way of form, but Brennan seems to have a knack for getting the best out of Blumenfeld trainees, and this one was his choice in here, so I'll take a shot in this wide-open affair. (5) DREAMZZZZ R FOR U beat $12,500 claiming company at Saratoga a couple times in October and November and was a closing third from a trailing post in his last appearance up north. (1) SHADOWOFTHENORTH returns to Yonkers tonight after good efforts in three of his last four at Freehold. The pole position should put him close to the action.
Race 4 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(2) ELDORADO OF GOLD S failed in the one start at the Meadowlands but that was from first-up, and against better claimers. He comes back to Yonkers tonight at a level he's had plenty of success at and Bartlett hops back in the bike. (3) KEYSTONE CHARGER tried NW8200L5's on 12-17 and broke stride. His prior two efforts against these types were both fine, including a second to Eldorado Of Gold S on December 9. (4) MIGHTY SURF finished up 2019 with just a one-for-21 win record, but she does hit the board on occasion at this level when not stuck outside on the gate.
Race 5 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(5) HP XANADU finished up well from far back in her second start for DiDomenico at the Meadowlands. She gets some post relief off both that race and her one appearance at Yonkers, and I'll use her. (6) TRIPLE DIP cruised to the win over NW4's back on December 16. She gets another opportunity to race in this class tonight. (7) MI NINA BONITA was the runner-up to Triple Dip in that contest on the 16th of December, but she has a negative post change tonight, moving from the pole position to post seven. She does have a prior victory at this level.
Race 6 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(2) AUDI BAYAMA is a newcomer to the Allard barn here. She romped over NW2 up at Woodbine Mohawk Park back in November and then raced well against $15,000 claimers up there as well. I think she catches the right field here to make an impact from an inside post. (1) PLATNUM PEARL hasn't won yet locally but has the advantageous pole position and gained a bit in the lane against the likes of Triple Dip last time out. (4) I'M VERY SPECIAL smashed NW2's back on 12-16 from post seven. She steps up here but draws a better post.
Race 7 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(8) B FIFTEEN scored all four of her wins last year at Yonkers. She definitely appears to have tailed off, but given her good local history and her drop to the bottom level here, I'll try her, even from the far outside. (4) PITTSTOP DANIKA returns to the NW5000L5 level where she finished third off a pocket trip two back. (3) NEON SKY N didn't do much for DiDomenico in her first three efforts for him, but improved on 12-26 at the Meadowlands.
Race 8 - NW7500L5/15000CLM/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Trot
(4) SOUL TRAIN gained in the final quarter two back against $20,000 optional claimers at Yonkers, so this is class relief off that race. Just cross out that line from post eight up at Monticello and I think he fits here at what should be a square price. (3) JUSTICE JET was in against NW10000L5's on 12-17, so he drops a notch here and switches pilots to Kakakley. He raced well against some solid foes at Saratoga in November and December. (1) STARLIGHT AS was third most recently at Dover to a horse named Morairtime, who won on 1-3 at the Meadowlands. That second-place finish to NW10000L4's from first-up out at Hollywood Dayton last month was impressive.
Race 9 - F&M NW6/75000LT Pace
(7) CRISP MANE came up a head short of the victory against NW6's in her last appearance of 2019. She does move outside here, but hopefully Brennan will fire her out. (1) BA BA BA BANANA returns to Yonkers tonight off three straight wins up at Monticello. She was fourth a couple times against NW6's in Westchester prior to that. (2) TELLAWOMAN has some good efforts and some not-so-good performances at this level locally. She was in against some older male foes in that qualifier at the Meadowlands, so that was a fine prep.
Race 10 - NW10000L5/20000CLM/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Trot
(2) ELYSIUM LINDY hikes up two levels off that win back on December 16, but he has all sorts of back-class, including appearances in the open at Yonkers, so I think he can handle it. (1) SKYWAY COBRA ships north from Rosecroft tonight. He was competitive in their Open and beat NW10000L5's at Harrah's Philly in November. (3) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR drops from both the $25,000 optional claimers and NW20000L5's he's been facing recently. Bartlett stuck with my top choice, so Kakaley ends up with the drive.
Race 11 - F&M NW8/100000LT / F&M NW6 Drawn Inside Pace
(5) CABOWABOCUTTIE shifts over to this class tonight. She was third in the Preferred in late November and finished in the same position against NW30300L5's and NW20200L5's in her last two. (4) BIG THONG came in second in this NW8 company on 11-4 with Marohn Jr. driving and he is reunited with her tonight. (6) RENAISSANCE LADY K is on a run of thirds both locally and at the Meadowlands. She was Bartlett's pick of three horses here.
Race 12 - F&M NW7500L5/15000CLM/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(3) MILLIONDOLLARGEM A posted her first win in the U.S. on the 12th of December and now begins the ascent back up the class ladder. I think this is a winnable spot in between the bottom NW5000L5's she defeated and the NW10000L5's she tested two back, and she drew well tonight. (4) AZURE SEELSTER ships north from Pompano and joins the Lachance stable here. She was in the Open down there two back and beat Preferred-2's over the half at Flamboro Downs in Ontario last September, so I think she has the class to threaten. (1) CAVIART CHERIE dropped at Harrah's Philly and took advantage with an improved effort to win. She's in against tougher here, but has quite a bit of back-class given she was in last year's Blue Chip Matchmaker Series.
