2019 STATS: 522 - 1334 / $2,436.20 (-$231.80)
BEST BETS: 62 - 114 / $198.90 (-$29.10)
Best Bet: MOHAWK WARRIOR (9th)
Spot Play: AMRCANBOOTSCOOTA A (4th)
Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming
(5) BIG TURN ON drops back down to the $12,500 claiming level where he’s been most effective and that may be whet he needs to get back on the winning track; perhaps Holland can work out a live trip at what should be a healthy price. (4) VEGAS ROCKS didn’t look at that pretty winning last week when dropped to the basement but the result was a solid victory; he’ll be a deserving favorite here but doesn’t seem worth the underlay odds. (1) BROOKIES PRINCE N tired badly last out versus $20K claimers but was solid in his previous two tries at this level; Regina trainee has a big chance. (7) BEYONDTHESILENCE N has been razor-sharp for Tritton but is stuck outside; we’ll see how hard-used he is early trying to enter contention.
Race 2 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(4) MADMAN HALL keeps going tough trips and has had plenty of excuses lately; Schnittker trainee will get it done eventually. (5) FINNICK ODAIR was scratched sick out of an amateur event but his prior start was a solid front-end win and the Bongiorno trainee will be on the move early. (1) BINGO QUEEN woke up last week with a solid late charge and the veteran can never be counted out. (8) SHOWMEYOURGUNS drops back down to a winning level but is stuck in post eight.
Race 3 - $12,500 Claiming
(1) STEVE SAID was jammed in the pocket last start and it’s hard to say how much pace he had but I’m willing to give the Harris trainee another chance. (3) RIPROY has been disappointing since returning at this reduced level but it’s still tough not to consider the Banca trainee with Bartlett driving. (2) MR HAM SANDWICH raced very willingly after being on the shelf for a year then tired badly in his most recent try; Allard trainee did qualify back effectively. (7) MASTER THE VIEW is a good fit at this $12,500 claiming level and he gets a driver upgrade to Dube; gelding could be a late threat at a big price.
Race 4 - $12,500/$15,000 Claiming
(5) AMRCANBOOTSCOOTA A went a near-impossible trip versus better in his debut off the Dilloian claim; this is a better spot tonight and the gelding can rebound. (6) TALENT SOUP was a sharp and well-meant winner upon arrival for Allard and he’s clearly capable of repeating. (4) TJ BLAST is a hard one to gauge but he can be trouble if he hits the lead. (3) WE THINK ALIKE showed a bit of life last week and perhaps he can improve off that effort.
Race 5 - $20,000 Claiming
(1) WIND BLAST lands in a much better spot tonight and the Lance Hudson trainee certainly seems the most logical here. (4) LINKJACK HANOVER dropped and popped last start for DiDomenico; he moves back to the $20K claiming level looking to score again. (3) RUPP picked up Dube and scored a big 35/1 upset; another in here with a chance. (2) LET’S FOAL AROUND has failed to deliver on the front end in two starts off the Banca claim; stalking trip tonight?
Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(4) BETTOR SPIRITS N moves into the Cory Stratton barn upon arrival and gets brother Jordan in the bike; veteran looks like he could be a good fit at this NW5000 level. (1) PARTY BOY has been racing well for Kimelman and has a big chance to take all with smooth sailing. (5) FULLBACK has been underachieving and burning money lately; mixed feelings. (6) BAD LOAD hasn’t been bad recently for Team Bongoirno and he should be a healthy price here.
Race 7 - $20,000 Claiming
(5) IMA TRAGEDY N was a game uncovered winner last start with Holland and he may be set up nicely from off the pace here in a field with plenty of speed types. (6) SEELEY MAN never got involved last out but this looks like a good spot to revert to early-speed tactics. (3) TORRID BROMAC N returns locally after a win versus a notch lesser out of town for his new barn and the veteran does like to win, with 23 tallies over the last two seasons. (7) GYPSY LEATHER has been feeling good lately and moves into a barn that’s been live with limited stock; post obviously hurts, however.
Race 8 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(3) GRAND PRIORITY two-moved, have way to pressure then held well for second in a well-meant effort upon arrival; Devita trainee deserves top billing off that effort. (1) LETTUCERIPRITA A has been okay recently at this level and the best draw certainly helps. (5) TAKE IT BACK TERRY is nowhere close to what he used to be but the Burke trainee still must be considered a threat with this type. (6) HALF A BILLION has been on the inconsistent type but he could show more dropping to this conditioned level.
Race 9 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) MOHAWK WARRIOR never got involved last week from the outside post after just missing versus better the start prior; post relief should make him the one to beat. (3) AWESOMENESS was Bartlett’s choice after a trip-sitting second place finish in his local return. (4) CAMPORA N has been fairly consistent recently for Vallee and he can carve out a piece from this midpack post. (7) ROCKIN IN THE HILLS seems like he should fit well with this type; only problem here is the post.
Race 10 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(1) BOOTS N CHAINS jogged upon arrival in 1:56 2/5 and now faces better going for a new barn off the claim; he may be sharp enough to repeat. (5) BATTLE MAGE returns locally now in the Chris Height barn and she’s been flashing good speed recently in Delaware. (2) SUGAR TOP never got involves last out but he should be more of a player here with the post improvement. (3) CHERRY PEEP hasn’t fired at all in two starts off the Allard claim; mixed feelings.
Race 11 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) DREAM OF LUCK finished well after saving ground last start and he has a couple of good second-place finishes recently; perhaps he can strike from off the pace here facing some shaky speed types. (3) WEONA SIZZLER A has been a disappointment all season but it’s still tough not to consider the Banca trainee. (1) BLAISE MM HANOVER does have fine speed from the rail and is more than capable. (4) MACINTOSH N has been sneaky-good recently but unfortunately Stratton opted off to drive (6) RUN ONEOVER N.
